- The faint hum of engines broke the evening stillness, low at first, then swelling until the sound alone turned heads. One after another, a fleet of gleaming vehicles rolled down the street and halted neatly at the Sterling residence.
- They weren’t ordinary cars. A silver Maybach led the procession, followed by a midnight–black Rolls Royce and several custom imports that most people only ever saw in glossy magazines. The polished bodies reflected the streetlights like mirrors, making the entire lane glow.
