Chapter 63 The Hidden Connection

  • At the hotel, Adela was sitting cross-legged on the couch, a laptop open in front of her and a notebook in her hands, jotting down notes. She’d been back for a few days, still staying at the hotel, but she was determined to find a place soon. The plan was to get Herbie moved in with her as quickly as possible.
  • Adela had earned a decent amount of money while in the UK, so supporting the two of them wouldn’t be an issue. Once that was settled, she was planning to find a job. Eric had even written her a recommendation letter, so she wasn’t too worried about it. But right now, her focus was on finding a place to live.
  • The door opened and in came Herbie, fresh from school. For the past few days, Herbie had been coming straight to Adela’s hotel after school, and Adela would walk her back to the Anderson family’s house in the evening. It wasn’t that the hotel couldn’t accommodate both of them; it was just that Adela felt it was better for Herbie to stay with the Andersons a little longer. After all, Mrs. Anderson had been taking such good care of her, and Adela didn’t want to wear out her welcome.
