• I stared at the headlines, scoffed at it, then set my phone down, but the banging feeling in my head had me picking it up again. I zoomed into the picture, a dark chill creeping up my spine as I took in their perfect happy faces.
• That bastard was really pushing through with it, huh? I thought he was playing some sick joke—no one knew the extent of Lucien's hate for Kaida more than I did. I also never thought there was a world where he would choose Kaida over me—but after a month of watching him being the absolute best to her, it was finally starting to sink in that he might really be in love with her, which sucked, because even though I didn't love him from the start, I'd always considered him to be mine, so why the hell was this happening
