Chapter 4 The Gift Of An Estate
- On the other side, the oppressive aura around Frederick became even more intense.
- Charlotte knew he was worried about his grandson's illness and intended to reassure him. “Don't worry. I will give it my all in this treatment.”
- When Olivia saw her dear grandfather, she was extremely glad. Seeing her grandfather's worry, she couldn't help but cling to his leg, timidly comforting him, “Old Mr. Quille, don't worry. My mommy is really amazing. She'll definitely be able to cure mister!”
- Bennett puffed up his small chest with pride and said, “Absolutely, my mommy is the strongest in the world. Don't worry, Old Mr. Quille. No need to look so worried!”
- Peter Zeller, the assistant, looked toward the rearview mirror, trembling slightly. He couldn't help but think that these kids were really bold, daring to approach Frederick so closely and even act so affectionately toward him.
- It was important to understand that Frederick had been a formidable presence in the business world for decades. His decisions were swift and decisive, exuding an aura of power and intimidation that kept people at bay.
- He was planning to risk his neck and appease Frederick when he got angry. After all, those were the miracle doctor's children. However, to his surprise, Frederick didn't get angry. Instead, he responded in a calm and pleasant tone, “Okay. Hopefully, all will go well.”
- Peter was stunned, his eyes fixated on the rearview mirror, unblinking.
- D*mn! Is Old Mr. Quille okay?
- He has never been so gentle before, not even with the young master!
- After answering, Frederick gazed thoughtfully at the little girl's face. He wasn't sure what was happening to him, but when he met her soft, dewy eyes, his heart fluttered, and he felt himself soften.
- Sensing that the atmosphere was somewhat peculiar, Charlotte quickly pulled back the clinging Olivia. She softly reprimanded, “Liv, remember what I taught you. Remain seated!”
- Reluctantly, Olivia cast a glance at Frederick. She obediently placed her hands on her lap, yet she yearned to nestle into her grandfather's arms and act coy.
- Peter noticed that the atmosphere in the car had returned to normal, and he let out a long sigh of relief. Then, he courteously said, “Dr. Sherrod, we'll stop by your accommodation first to drop off your things. Then we'll go and see Mr. Quille. Lunch is already prepared.”
- Charlotte nodded in agreement without any objections.
- The car quickly came to a halt in front of a mansion. When Charlotte, along with the children, stepped out, they were utterly astonished.
- The house before her was a grand estate. Two stone lions stood guard at the entrance, behind which a wrought-iron gate, adorned with intricate carvings, opened to a fountain that sprayed water in various shapes, glistening under the sunlight. As they stepped inside, a vast lawn stretched before her eyes, with a castle-like white building standing majestically in the center. Marble steps led up to it, and the opulence of the house's interior was breathtaking. Luxury and elegance were present in every corner. Precious artifacts were scattered around, and ancient paintings hung on the walls, exuding a subtle air of nobility.
- The three children opened their mouths in awe. “Wow, this house is so incredibly huge. We can't even see the edges!”
- Anthony's eyes lit up like twinkling stars. He had only seen such a beautiful house on television, and his voice was filled with disbelief. “Mommy, mommy, am I dreaming?”
- The eyes of the other two children also sparkled with excitement. They shouted in delight and ran straight inside.
- “Old Mr. Quille, this... this is way too luxurious, isn't it? It doesn't seem quite appropriate for us to stay,” said Charlotte, her eyebrows furrowed in concern.
- Frederick, leaning on a cane adorned with a golden dragon head, stood behind. “This was originally Nathan's residence. It's convenient for you to stay here for the treatment. Moreover, as long as you can cure Nathan, the Quille family is willing to pay any price.”
- Upon hearing this, Charlotte hurriedly waved her hands and earnestly said, “When you contacted me, the consultation fee was already set. I will only take what I am due.”
- In the medical profession, she was not one to go back on her word. Moreover, the person she was aiding was the father of her children. She could never take advantage of someone in their time of need.
- “The accommodation you've provided is too luxurious. Why don't we deduct the lodging fees from the consultation charges?”
- Peter had just walked in, lugging the luggage from outside, when he heard the conversation and chimed in with a laugh. “Dr. Sherrod, Old Mr. Quille is not one to change his mind. You might as well stay. Besides, it's more convenient for you to be close by in case of any unexpected situations!”
- Frederick's eyes, fierce yet profound, were fixed on her. “As long as Nathan can be cured, nothing else matters.”
- Charlotte fell silent. Sometimes, that was just how it was with treating patients and saving lives. If a doctor didn't accept the monetary gift from the patient's family, it could ironically cause unease and suspicion.
- She thought it would be better to figure out how to repay the favor later. With this in mind, she felt at ease and continued, “Let's not talk about this for now. Let's go and check on Mr. Quille first.”
- She was anxious and eager to find out exactly what illness had befallen her children's father.
- Moreover, she knew clearly that the children she had lost for six years must be with him at this moment.
