Chapter 10 Sizzling Muscles
- The children began to cry all at once, but mindful of the sick person resting in the bed, they sobbed softly.
- With reddened eyes, Anthony looked toward Frederick, pleadingly saying, “Old Mr. Quille, please call my mommy. She'll surely know what to do!”
- At this moment, even Frederick was at a loss, considering that the other party was the last disciple of Caseareo. A gleam flashed in his eyes as he repeatedly agreed, “Yes, yes...”
- However, the very next moment, Seamus sternly objected, “No, we can't let a fraud treat him. Mr. Quille's condition is complicated. What if it worsens under her care?”
- Frederick found himself in a difficult situation, his eyebrows furrowed in distress. He stood off to the side, his face dark with worry.
- Upon seeing the situation, the three children stealthily led Daniel and Elijah away. Bennett was sobbing softly as he whispered, “I have to tell you guys, my mommy is Mr. Caseareo's last disciple. She's an excellent doctor. She'll definitely be able to save Mr. Quille!”
- Elijah took a deep breath. He asked, “Is that true?”
- Bennett nodded. “Let me tell you. This Dr. Lynch is not a good person. He deliberately stopped Mommy from saving him!”
- Elijah was a simple-minded individual. He immediately widened his eyes, exclaiming, “Ah...”
- Daniel, the elder brother, pulled him aside, positioning himself protectively in front of him. He said, “But Dr. Lynch is the doctor Great-grandpa has sought for Daddy. Your mommy is still too young. She lacks the necessary skills!”
- Upon hearing this, Bennett instantly became agitated, his feet stomping on the floor in frustration. “Nonsense, absolute nonsense!” he cried out. “My mommy is the most amazing. Her medical skills even surpass Mr. Caseareo's!”
- Anthony chimed in from the side, “Exactly, exactly. How about we add each other on WhatsApp first? If Mr. Quille's fever doesn't subside later, we can secretly invite our mommy. Trust me. Mommy really can cure Mr. Quille.”
- Daniel and Elijah exchanged a glance, simultaneously sniffed, and agreed.
- The three little ones had something on their minds, and before long, they announced their departure. They were in a hurry to get back and share the news with their mother.
- Frederick's heart was filled with sorrow. He instructed his driver to take them back to the hotel, and he also handed them a box of sweets made in his kitchen for them to enjoy at home.
- Upon returning to the hotel, the three little ones stealthily swiped their card to enter. Then, with their heads huddled close together, they began to quietly discuss what they should do next.
- In a state of urgency, Olivia pleaded, “Oh no, we need to wake Mommy up quickly. What if Daddy really does pass away?”
- Bennett nodded in agreement, both of them turning their attention toward their elder brother.
- After a moment of hesitation, Anthony agreed.
- Three adorable little ones hurriedly scampered outside their mother's room. As they gently pushed the door open, their little heads poked out from the doorway, peering inside.
- “Mommy is asleep!”
- “Let's go!”
- “Mommy! Mommy!”
- “Mommy, wake up, please!”
- In her dreams, Charlotte was drifting in and out of consciousness when the desperate calls of children suddenly echoed in her ears. She opened her eyes only to see three little heads huddled in front of her, their three pairs of big eyes red and teary.
- “What's wrong?” She quickly sat up.
- Olivia pouted, voicing her grievance. “Mommy, you must go and help Mr. Quille. He's been running a high fever that just won't go away. That bad doctor said it's all down to luck whether he can be cured or not!”
- Bennett listened to these words and couldn't help but let the tears flow freely. He pleaded with Charlotte, “Yes, Mommy, please go save Daddy. I don't want Daddy to die.”
- Upon hearing the words, Charlotte reacted instantly, her brows furrowing in seriousness. “Tony, didn't you promise me that you would look after your younger siblings? Why did you sneak off to the Quille residence?”
- She didn't often get angry, so her stern expression was particularly frightening.
- Bennett and Olivia let out a loud sob, casting worried glances toward their elder brother.
- Overwhelmed, Anthony couldn't hold back his tears anymore. He sobbed uncontrollably, gasping for breath as he stammered out, “Mommy, I'm sorry... I was worried that the bad doctor wouldn't treat Mr. Quille properly, so I took my younger siblings to the Quille residence... I just wanted to remind the younger brothers in the Quille residence to be careful. I'm sorry.”
- As soon as he started crying, Bennett and Olivia joined in. “Mommy, don't be mad at Tony. It's all our fault for not behaving.”
- “Mommy...”
- Charlotte watched them with a headache, her heart softening. She thought about how the children had grown up without a father, and it was normal for them to have a special affection for that man. After all, she didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
- “All right. I'm not blaming you,” she said, “But you understand the current situation, don't you? If you sneak out and something bad happens, like getting kidnapped, what then?”
- Her little darling's face was flushed red from crying, tear-filled eyes gazing at her.
- Just then, Anthony's phone rang. He pulled it out, and his expression changed instantly, his voice filled with urgency, “Mommy, my brothers said that Ms. Quille has a fever of forty degrees. They're afraid he might not make it!”
- Charlotte's heart suddenly sank, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. “I saw him just this morning. This shouldn't be happening,” she said.
- Olivia clutched her leg, attempting to drag her from the bed. “Mommy, hurry and save Daddy! Otherwise, I will be left without a daddy!”
- Half an hour later into the night, Charlotte was once again standing at the entrance of the Quille residence with her three children in tow.
- Charlotte said to Anthony, “Text your brother and let him know we've arrived.”
- Anthony waved his phone in his hand. “I've already done that!”
- In no time at all, the two little ones scampered out of the room to open the door for them.
- Upon seeing their younger brothers, the three little ones quickly rushed over, showering them with concern. “Don't worry. With Mommy here, Mr. Quille will surely be fine!”
- “Yes, yes! Mommy is incredibly awesome!”
- Charlotte helplessly looked at her three fervent young fans, gently tousled their hair, and then turned her determined gaze to the other two children. “Don't worry. Let's go.”
- Elijah looked up at her. The woman was walking against the light; her figure was graceful, and her eyes and brows were serene. Somehow, she had a calming effect on people. She carried a pleasant scent that made him want to draw closer, to seek solace in her embrace.
- He wanted to step forward and ask for a hug, but Daniel grabbed his hand, pulling him away directly.
- They soon arrived at the sickroom.
- Charlotte hurriedly stepped forward to check the patient's pulse and assess his condition. She then sequentially felt the man's carotid artery and lifted his eyelids, all the while her heart heavy with concern.
- Elijah and Daniel stood nervously by her side. Their young faces were all scrunched up in worry.
- Without any further hesitation, Charlotte reached into her small personal bag and pulled out a black cloth bundle. From inside, she drew out several thick silver needles. She bent down, her left hand deftly unbuttoning the man's shirt one button at a time.
- The fabric that enveloped the man's body was gradually removed, revealing his skin beneath to the open air.
- The man clearly had a long-standing habit of working out. His skin was bronzed, and his muscles were well-defined and prominent. His physique was chiseled to perfection, flawless, and exuded with a strong sense of ruggedness.
- As Charlotte undid the last few buttons, her hand began to tremble involuntarily. This was the man she had spent a night with six years ago. Her fingertips barely brushed against his muscles. The scorching heat felt as if she was touching fire, causing her to straighten up, her eyes wavering.
- However, she quickly composed herself, her hands moving with a practiced ease. In the blink of an eye, she had inserted each silver needle into specific acupoints without a trace of hesitation.
- In no time, the man's muscular chest was filled with silver needles, and even his lower abdomen was not spared, having its fair share of silver needles.
- The five little ones standing by the bed were utterly captivated, each holding their breath, their fascination so intense it was almost hair-raising.
- Roughly half an hour later, Charlotte retracted her hand and slowly stood up, releasing a deep breath. Her dark eyes were even brighter now as if they were filled with stars.
- Daniel's and Elijah's small hands were tightly joined together. Seeing this, Daniel cautiously asked, “Dr. Sherrod, how is my daddy doing?”
- As he spoke, he bit his lower lip, trembling as he said, “He'll be okay, right?”
