Chapter 350 Let’s Go to School Together

  • “The little brothers are about to start school?” Charlotte froze, not catching on for a second. In all her careful planning, she’d overlooked one thing. The two kids from the Huo family still had to go to school! If they needed to be at school, wouldn’t that mean even less time together? Tony immediately caught Mommy’s drift, his expression turning a little wry. “Yeah, Mommy. Not every kid gets the kind of break we three did.” “And not every kid gets the chance to bow to a master like we did, either!” After all, if Charlotte hadn’t been through hell and back in Muprary, her three kids might never have met their teacher. Their days had been rough, sure, but it gave the three Sweethearts knowledge and skills no average kid could touch. Back when Tony was marching on his short little legs through King of Soldiers training, his little brothers, Eli and Daniel, were being fussed over at the Quille residence, soaking up a proper elite education. Tony was the craftiest of the three. Her eyes flicked, and she reached out with her chubby hand to tug on Charlotte’s sleeve, tilting her head up with big, glassy eyes. “Mommy, are you worried that once school starts, you won’t get as much time with the little brothers?” Benny thought it over and tried to soothe her. “Mommy, both Eli and Danny really like you. Even if we don’t see them often, we can sneak them out to hang with us.” Charlotte sighed. “If we start seeing Eli and Danny less and less, every meeting we do have will draw the Quille family’s attention.” “If there’s no goal behind it, fine. But we…” Hearing that, all three babies went grave. Tony bit down, then threw out a suggestion. “Mommy, if this is really messing you up, just send us to school with the little brothers.” He wore the face of someone marching bravely to the gallows. “That way we’ll have more chances to be around them!” The moment Benny and Tony heard their big bro say he’d send them to school, the world tilted. “Oh my gosh!” Tony went pale. “Then I’ll have to do grade-school homework every day!” “Oh my gosh!” Benny went green. “Then I won’t have time to sit in clinic with Mommy!” The two Sweethearts traded looks, then both swung their eyes to Tony. Benny said, “Danny, Tony and I are way too dumb. Better leave school duty to just you.” Tony bobbed her head hard. “Danny, you know me. I only like my lab. I don’t like school classrooms.” Big bro knew his little brother and sister’s tricks inside out. But nobody was getting out of this one. He didn’t want to go to school either, but for Eli and Danny’s sake, he’d swallow his pride and take the hit. Tony knew talking them into it was pointless. In this family, Charlotte was the one in charge. So he turned to Mommy, his sweet baby face scrunching into trouble. “I want my little brother and sister to take it easy too,” he said. “But Eli and Danny are two. If it’s just me alone, a lot of plans won’t work.” Charlotte couldn’t help but laugh, finding the three little dumplings shoving the chore back and forth way too cute. Other people might not know what Tony was thinking, but she did. If her sky’s-the-limit eldest wanted to, forget two—he could keep five in line without breaking a sweat. She glanced at the other two, both wearing such pitiful little bun faces, and, feeling amused, nodded to her eldest. “Then Mommy will figure out a way to send you all to elementary school together.”
