Chapter 14 Penelope's Son
- “Hmm.” Belle took a small bite from the pastry Vera held out to her. She didn’t say anything, just chewed slowly as she stood behind her sister. In the corner of the room, one of the maids silently watched the two girls. She didn’t want to intrude, so she stood quietly near the large dressing mirror, giving them space.
- The room they were in belonged to Rosavera, and honestly, it looked more like a small library than a bedroom. The air always smelled like sweet pastries and strong perfume. It was the kind of smell that clung to the walls, warm, sugary, and strangely comforting.
- Most times, the only sounds you'd hear in Rosavera’s room were light snores from her as she napped on the bed like she had no care in the world, or soft scribbles when she occasionally tried to write. But today felt different. Belle's presence always changed the mood.
