Chapter 5 Let Me Try

  • Furong Garden.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao put on her apron, busying herself with preparing dinner.
  • Beside her was the little prince, who was holding on to a cup of milk. He was exploring the house, curiously scanning his surrounding, “So this is where you live?”
  • “Yes. It’s a little small, so it definitely pales in comparison to your house.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao replied casually while she cut the vegetables, placing them onto a plate.
  • Head tilted, the little prince asked her, “Aunt, do you live alone?”
  • “Yes.”
  • “Aunt, don’t you have a family?”
  • “I do, but they aren’t with me. Therefore, I live alone.”
  • The little prince was silent. He seemed to worry that he had upset her, causing him to pat her before he had comforted her gently, “It’s okay, I will be here in the future. There will be two people living here.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao was amused.
  • He really was a child who was acting like an adult!
  • Her fondness towards the boy grew.
  • “Alright, aunt is going to prepare our dinner. The kitchen will smell of smoke. Go outside and wait for me, okay?”
  • “Okay.”
  • The little one nodded obediently as he left immediately to sit on the sofa outside.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao began cooking.
  • She had been doing so to save her money, thus she had gradually become skilled.
  • In less than an hour, she had whipped up a meal with three dishes and a soup.
  • There was seafood, pork ribs and vegetables on the table. The dishes looked good, oozing with savory.
  • However, Jiang Xiaoxiao was a little bit worried.
  • After all, he was Jin's little prince and he would probably be accustomed to having delicacies. She wasn’t sure if the little prince would appreciate her cooking.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao filled a bowl with rice before she gave it to the little prince, “Try it. If you don’t like it, just let me know, we can go out for dinner instead.”
  • The little prince nodded. He took the spoon, stuffing a mouthful of rice into his mouth as he began to chew. He looked so lovable, cheeks stuffed with food.
  • She was pleased. Just as she was about to join the little prince, her doorbell rang.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao was puzzled.
  • There was nobody who would come over. Who could it be?
  • She approached the door, her question still in mind.
  • Upon opening the door, a slender looking man was revealed.
  • His face was gorgeous like a flawless work created by the heavens. Thin lips pursed, his mouth had formed a sharp line. His facial features were so exquisite that no words could do him justice. His eyes however, appeared to be cold depths of darkness.
  • He looked attractive in his well-ironed, elegant suit that was made to fit. His long legs were well hidden under his trousers as well. His was oozing with perfection and impeccableness.
  • This was the first time that Jiang Xiaoxiao had ever met a man who had looked so stunning.
  • For a moment, she had forgotten how to respond.
  • Regaining her senses, she opened her mouth to ask the man for his identity, suddenly heard a loud ‘thud’ from behind.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao turned to see the little prince throwing his spoon on the table snorting as he walked into the room with his stubby legs.
  • He had even shut the door!
  • Jin Zhishen, “...”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao, “...”
  • She was confused. What had happened to him?
  • Trying to make sense of the situation at hand, she suddenly heard the man in front of her say, “Hi, I am Jin Zhishen, Bao’s father.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao was startled.
  • She had suspected that the Jin’s would send someone over, but she did not expect Jin Zhishen to appear before her in the flesh.
  • She had heard of him before.
  • It was known that he was a man who kept a low-profile. Yet, he was cold and ruthless. He was a legendary businessman who was influential, honorable and he respected by many.
  • His younger brother, Jin Zhiyi, was also suave, charismatic and well-known in the industry.
  • Had it been in the past, Jiang Xiaoxiao would have never had to opportunity to come across such individuals.
  • She hadn’t expected Jin Zhixhen to visit her shabby home.
  • Barely regaining her senses, she replied, “Hello, are you here to bring Bao back home?”
  • “Yes.” Jin Zhishen acknowledged, looking inside, “Can I come in?”
  • “Sure.” Jiang Xiaoxiao stood aside, giving him way to enter.
  • Jin Zhishen strode in casually. His 1.8m tall figure made Jiang Xiaoxiao’s tiny house seem even smaller.
  • Subconsciously, Jin Zhishen had looked around.
  • The house was small but cozy. There were also hot, steaming dishes on the table. For some reason, this made him feel warm and fuzzy inside.
  • Jin Zhishen found it strange that he had such a thought.
  • Before he had arrived, he had done a background check on Jiang Xiaoxiao.
  • So, he sort of understood her circumstances.
  • At that time, he had thought that Jiang Xiaoxiao had ill intentions whilst approaching Bao.
  • After all, it was rumored that he had never approached any woman. Bao never liked being near strangers. It was rare that he had favored her. He thought that she would have wanted to please Bao.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao, stood behind him, unaware of his thoughts.
  • She felt embarrassed when she had noticed Jin Zhishen looking at the dishes on the table.
  • “I have only some home cooked food but it is probably not to his taste.”
  • Jin Zhishen replied blandly, “He isn’t fussy at all and eats anything. Thank you very much for taking care of him today.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao waved her hands dismissively, before replying, “Don’t mention it. Bao is very obedient. I am not sure what has happened…”
  • “This has nothing to do with you, Ms. Jiang. He is probably throwing a tantrum at. It will be alright after we get him out.”
  • After that, Jin Zhishen went over and knocked on the bedroom door, “Bao, it’s time to go home. Come on out.”
  • Bao kept silent.
  • Seemingly expecting of this reaction, Jin Zhishen patiently coddled, “You have been sulking for three days. It’s time to stop. You are no longer three years old.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao felt like laughing.
  • Bao remained silent.
  • Jin Zhishen frowned and said in a cold voice, “Jin Beichen, I am giving you one more minute. Come out now. Otherwise, I will force my way in.”
  • There was finally some movement, but it didn’t seem like the little prince had wanted to come out.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao could not stand it anymore.
  • First, he had threatened the kid. Then he had followed to intimidate the child. It wasn’t a surprise as to why the little prince had refused to unlock the door.
  • Hence, she suggested, “Mr. Jin, how about you let me try?”
