Chapter 6 I Want To Be With Aunt

  • Jin Zhishen looked at her in surprise. He seemed hesitant but he quickly agreed.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao moved forward as she knocked on the door, saying, “Baby, I have made dinner. It will be cold if you don’t eat it now. Come out, okay?”
  • Rustling sounds could be heard from inside. Nonetheless, the door remained shut.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao was relentless, “You see, I am very hungry after working so diligently. Come out and have dinner with me, okay? Otherwise, I might have gastric pains later, in which I may have to visit the doctor. Quite sad, isn’t it?”
  • The room was silent again. After a while, the door opened and a small head popped out.
  • Jin Zhishen was surprised.
  • Previously, whenever his son had thrown a tantrum, it would have taken him more than a week to cool down.
  • Nothing worked, even if the entire family had tried coax him.
  • The unthinkable had just been done.
  • Jin Zhishen couldn’t help but look at the woman beside him.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao was oblivious to his stare, gladly carrying Bao out. She said, “Bao is so obedient. Come, let’s have our dinner.”
  • Bao nodded as he ignored his father. He went back to his seat, ready to have his dinner.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao saw Jin Zhishen standing at the side. She asked him, “Mr. Jin, have you had your dinner yet? Do you want to join us?”
  • She was simply being polite, unexpectant of Jin Zhishen’s agreement, “Sure. Thank you.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao was taken aback.
  • Luckily, she had cooked a larger portion of food. She immediately brought out another set of cutleries, saying, “If the food is not to your liking, we can go out and have dinner.”
  • Jin Zhishen took a bite of a pork rib before saying calmly, “It tastes good.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao felt relieved.
  • The dinner was a little awkward.
  • This was all because of the man sitting across from her.
  • This was their first encounter but the entire situation was odd.
  • Luckily, Bao was here. Jiang Xiaoxiao had peeled prawns for him from time to time, feeding him, or wiping his face to divert her attention from his father.
  • After dinner, Jiang Xiaoxiao cleared the table, preparing some tea for the father and son to give them some aid in their digestion.
  • These two will be leaving soon after the tea, right?
  • Jin Zhishen seemed to notice her thoughts, saying, “Thank you Ms. Jiang for the dinner tonight. It’s already quite late. I will bring Bao back home now.”
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao heaved a sigh of relief.
  • Phew! I thought he was going to stay the night over!
  • She immediately replied, “You are welcome. It’s just an ordinary dinner.”
  • Bao was anxious. He immediately hugged Jiang Xiaoxiao’s leg, saying defensively, “I am not leaving. I am going to stay with Aunt.”
  • Jin Zhishen frowned, “Stop it. You have already bothered her the entire day.”
  • “... I like Aunt, I want to sleep with her.”
  • Bao said stubbornly, holding onto Jiang Xiaoxiao with a tight grip.
  • She was shocked.
  • She had learnt that Bao was fond of her, but she was surprised to hear the words come out of his mouth.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao had seen Jin Zhishen’s anger, thus she helped to convince the little one, “Bao, it’s time to go home. Otherwise, your grandparents will be worried.”
  • “I don’t care, I want to sleep with Aunt Xiaoxiao.”
  • Bao looked up at her with teary eyes.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao was heartbroken.
  • He looked so pitiful, making Jiang Xiaoxiao unable to send him off.
  • She was at a loss for words as she turned to look back at Jin Zhishen.
  • She wasn’t sure if Jin Zhishen would find her ridiculous if she had agreed to Bao’s request.
  • Jin Zhishen didn’t expect Bao to be so attached to a woman whom he had just met.
  • However he was insistent. “Go back with me!”
  • He would never leave Bao with a complete stranger, whom he had known for less than a day.
  • Jiang Xiaoxiao could guess Jin Zhishen’s thoughts, hence she gave up and said, “Bao, you can visit me whenever you want to. Sadly, I do not have enough space for you to sleep here. Why don’t you follow your dad back home, eh?”
  • Bao shook his head vigorously.
  • Jin Zhishen was turning impatient. He walked towards them, scooping Bao in his arms, “There should be a limit to throwing a tantrum. Don’t take advantage of the fact that I pamper you. Don’t think that you think you can get away with everything...”
  • Bao choked up immediately, as if he was going to cry. He stared at his father stubbornly, unwilling to compromise.
  • Jin Zhishen refused to let him have his way as he turned to Jiang Xiaoxiao saying, “Ms. Jiang, sorry to disturb you.”
