Chapter 4

  • WITH his help, she had bought her dad’s house back. Anyone else would say Damian was truly in love with this woman because he doesn't play about her. He took her to different places, introduced her to his business partners even though his father didn't like her.
  • Rose had no friends as she didn't have time to make one. It was just her and her dad after Rey’s disappearance. So she suggested a micro wedding when he proposed to her. He concurred to it.
  • They pulled off a memorable wedding with the help of the event planner he hired. His parents were present, actually they wanted him to marry Susan, daughter of the biggest shareholder of their company but had to beat it seeing that Rose wasn't a bad girl after all and Damian happiness should be their priority.
  • Just when the wedding was over, A call came in, it was Susan's father, he had withdrawn from being a shareholder of their company.
  • Shaun Cody casted a stern look at his son who was lost in words. He had planned to marry Susan later, for the same reason he adopted an intimate wedding with Rose. He didn't want the news to spread but the cover had been blown.
  • They watched him as He made it to the car, yanked the door open and sat in the front seat and turned to Rose who was already dealing with sadness, “it's all your fault!” He growled.
  • Rose couldn't make out to cry, she sat still and firm, holding back the clustered tears from streaming down her eyelids. “What's my fault? How is it my fault?” She thought.
  • He had told her before now that he won't have any wife aside from her. And he would never marry that lady no matter what. “So, what's happening? Could he be acting ?” She whispered.
  • Silence accompanied them home. He retired to his master bedroom without saying a word to her. That was when Rose knew that things were not the same.
  • She followed him but was locked out. She knocked several times, “captain, c’mon you shouldn't be too mean. we just got married, it's our first night as couples, come make love to me”. She sniveled knowing it would pacify him.
  • The door creaked open, he pulled her in and shut it. “You should sleep princess, I need to think of a way to rectify this”. He huffed.
  • She didn't want to argue so she slept. He tucked her in and kissed her forehead. Maybe that's why he loved her; his little good girl.
  • Another call came in the morning, it was from his secretary. Many shareholders influenced by Susan’s father had dropped as well. He rose from the dining room, he was yet to eat but the news made him lose appetite.
  • “I will see you in the evening princess,” he soothed. Rose looked at him with hopeful eyes urging him to stay but he got to go. He needs to take the wheels so the company doesn't crash. Rose had called out while he was walking down the stairs but he was lost in thought to hear her. “I love you captain,” she sniffled.
  • The thought of Damian leaving her made her stomach churned. He turned and feigned a smile then went out. That wasn't the man she dated a year ago, he would always kiss her before going out. She stood at the edge of the stairs till he was out of sight.
  • He decided to drive himself. He wasn’t in the mood for any sort of company. After a while of contempt, He called Susan. He had asked her for an appointment and she agreed.
  • “I’ve been sitting here for over an hour now Damian, can you tell me why you called me here?” Susan uttered. He invited her to his office as he has fixed meetings to attend. He looked up from his laptop, “I'm sorry sussy, give me a sec. He said.
  • She held back the smile creeping on her face, exactly what she wanted; his attention. She had looked through the files on the shelf to keep busy, then bursted out when she felt like she'd wasted enough time even though she enjoyed being with him.
  • He stood up from his desk, approached her and grasped her hands while maintaining eye contact. She withdrew her hands and stepped back, “ Damian, what's the occasion?” She snapped. All was pretense.
  • He didn't prepare for this meeting, he's not a wordy person, but his aura paves way for him every time moreover no speech in mind. He had called her out of frustration. He backed away from her, not showing his weakness.
  • “If it's about my father and the other shareholders, you know what to do.” She concluded. She knew him too well. She had spent so many evenings with him thinking it would re-spice their relationship but Damian was all about business.
  • “Sussy, " he called, “will you be my mistress? I promise to treat you better than a wife. “Wait What?! Mistress? Her eyes widened, Damian, we were supposed to be married!” She retorted. “ Don't tell me you just want to use me, tears shimmered in her eyes, does it mean .. you do.. don’t love me”? She faltered as she began to doubt the whole moments they've had.
  • He came closer to her and pulled her into his arms. “I do love you baby, c’mon, We need a plan. The media got eyes on me now, you know, they always do. And I don't want them going crazy all over the internet with me as a headline just like they did when we.. broke up. He said with a little compassion.
  • “We never broke up Damian, I told you I needed space.” her eyebrows snapped together “But you left the country," quizzed Damian. “Even when I told you not to? C'mon Sussy You don't even respect me, do you? He queried. " I do Damian, I just .. she struggled to get the words out.
