Chapter 3 I'm Robt's Friend
- Because he had more important things to do.
- Molly paused the halfway-through movie on her laptop, then clicked on the incessant Facebook notification that had been popping up in the lower right corner.
- It was Robt chatting with Grace.
- He did not notice that his Facebook was on his laptop and she could see all the chats.
- She watched as the two of them talked about the past, the present, and the future.
- In the long conversation, Robt never mentioned her.
- That's right. After all, she was just a substitute for comfort. What was there to mention?
- She looked at the densely packed dialogue that was still refreshing and pressed the shutdown button.
- It was a dreamless night.
- The next day, Molly was woken up by the doorbell.
- She rubbed her eyes and walked to the living room. Robt, who had woken up at some point, was holding a bouquet of flowers. He turned around with a birthday cake.
- "Molly, have you ordered a cake? Why do you suddenly want to eat cake?"
- The room was silent for a few seconds before Molly spoke slowly.
- "My birthday. My friend must have asked someone to send it to me."
- Hearing this, Robt froze on the spot.
- He subconsciously glanced at the calendar on the wall and realized that it was already the 12th of July.
- He had actually forgotten her birthday.
- A trace of guilt flashed across his eyes. He quickly put down the things in his hand and pushed Molly back to the bedroom.
- "It's your birthday today. Let's go on a date. What do you want to eat?"
- "There's no need. Let's just stay at home."
- Molly rejected this suggestion.
- Robt insisted on going out to celebrate. He even took out a dress from the wardrobe and handed it over.
- Unable to dissuade him, Molly had no choice but to wash up and follow him out.
- The two of them went to their favorite restaurant for breakfast. Then, they watched the latest movie together and went to the mall for a few rounds.
- On the way, Molly went to the bathroom. When she came back, she saw him on the phone, asking his family to order an expensive necklace.
- Coincidentally, she had taken a liking to this necklace in a magazine half a month ago.
- Looking at his anxious expression, Molly had mixed feelings.
- She didn't quite understand what was going on in his head.
- He had memorized the necklace that she had taken a few more glances at. Yet he had completely forgotten the most important birthday.
- Did he really not know which was more important? Actually, he should know.
- Before Grace returned, he had treated Molly as a substitute, so he cared about her everywhere.
- After Grace returned, he turned all his attention to Grace.
- Therefore, he had forgotten everything related to her.
- For the entire morning, Molly could not lift her spirits. She was not interested in anything.
- Robt noticed her absent-mindedness and rubbed her head. "Birthday girl, why don't you seem happy? Are you not satisfied with today's arrangements?"
- Now that she thought about it, he always liked to rub her head. Subconsciously, he always treated her as a sister, not a lover.
- Molly shook her head and was about to say that she was tired and go home when Robt stopped a car and gave him the address of a villa.
- Facing her surprised gaze, he raised his eyebrows. "Haven't you always said that you want to get to know the friends around me? Everyone is free today. I'll take you to get to know them. Can you be happier that way?"
- This unexpected itinerary stunned Molly.
- In the past, when Robt was unwilling to meet her family and friends, she wanted to meet his friends. However, every time, he would find all kinds of reasons to reject her. As time passed, she never mentioned this again.
- Now that she was about to leave Flurg City, he had to take her because of the guilt in his heart.
- Everything in the world was really a freak combination of factors.
- She quietly looked at the passing scenery outside the window and said nothing in the end.
- The taxi stopped halfway up the mountain.
- Robt led her into the villa and pushed open the heavy door.
- With a few bangs, a sky full of flowers and ribbons flew down from the sky. A group of people squeezed out of the door noisily and said "Happy Birthday" with a smile.
- Seeing this, Robt quickly pulled Molly into his arms. As he took off the ribbon on her head, he chased the few boys who came forward.
- "Be careful. Don't scare my little girl. She's timid..."
- Before he could finish speaking, he stopped abruptly.
- As he looked at the familiar face in the crowd, his expression suddenly changed.
- Grace, on the other hand, had a calm expression on her face as she welcomed him with a smile.
- "Robt, I've been overseas for so many years and haven't participated in group activities for a long time. When I heard that you were going to celebrate your girlfriend's birthday this morning, I wanted to join in the fun. Don't tell me you don't welcome me?"
- Robt looked around coldly. Everyone lost the courage to look him in the eye and avoided him, pretending that it had nothing to do with them.
- Sensing that the atmosphere was about to turn cold, Molly politely extended her hand and took the initiative to greet her. "Welcome. Nice to meet you. I'm Molly."
- Grace stared at her for a long time before she seemed to understand something and held her hand with a faint smile.
- "Hello, my name is Grace. I'm Robt's... friend. Molly. Has anyone ever told you that we look a little alike?"
