Chapter 1 Just a Dream

  • "Cruz, I've agreed to go home for that arranged marriage."
  • Molly Wall's faint voice was especially clear in the quiet night.
  • When Cruz Wall heard this, he finally felt relieved. "You're finally willing to break up with your little boyfriend? You've been together for so many years, but he didn't agree to come back with you to see us. I knew that there would be no outcome between you."
  • Hearing her brother's firm tone, Molly lowered her eyes and agreed softly.
  • "I was wrong previously. I'll settle things here as soon as possible. I'll have to trouble you to arrange the wedding. Just give me half a month," she said.
  • "You don't have to worry about the wedding. We'll make the preparations. You just have to come back on time. Your fiancé was carefully selected by Mom, Dad, and me. His family background, personality, and appearance are all good. He'll definitely catch your eye.
  • "By the way, before you come back to get married this time, remember to invite my best friend, Robt Goodman. Previously, you went to college in Flurg City. Didn't you stay at his house for some time? It was all thanks to him taking care of you. Remember to invite him to the wedding."
  • Molly did not know how to respond.
  • After a long silence, she replied in a low voice, "He can't come."
  • Before she could finish her sentence, the door was pushed open.
  • Molly quickly hung up the phone and looked up at Robt, who had just returned.
  • He raised his eyebrows, and a bold smile appeared on his roguish, untamed face. "I can't come? Where can't I come?"
  • My wedding, Molly replied inwardly.
  • However, her expression remained calm and her tone was indifferent. "Nothing."
  • Robt did not take it to heart. He casually unbuttoned his black shirt. "Were you on the phone with your brother just now?"
  • Molly nodded and got up to go back to the bedroom, but he pulled her into his arms.
  • His hot breath landed beside her ear, and an ambiguous aura surged between them. "And did you tell him what our relationship is?"
  • Molly smiled, but the smile did not seem real. "Didn't you not want him to know?"
  • "It's not that I don't want to, but I can't. With your brother's personality, if he finds out that his best friend is with his most precious sister, he'll probably fly over overnight and beat me up until I can't get out of bed."
  • Hearing his joking tone, Molly's eyelashes fluttered slightly, but her voice was still calm. "So, in your heart, am I your girlfriend?"
  • Upon hearing her sudden question, Robt raised his eyebrows. "If you're not my girlfriend, why I've lived with you for six years? If you're not my girlfriend, would I hug you the moment I come back? If you're not my girlfriend, why would I do such a thing to you?"
  • As he spoke, his warm lips brushed past her neck. Molly's body instantly tensed up, and she quickly turned her head to avoid the kiss. "I... I'm not feeling well today."
  • Robt thought that she was shy and could not help but laugh. "My little girlfriend, we've been together for so long. Why are you still so shy?"
  • After that, he ruffled her hair and turned to walk towards the bathroom.
  • Listening to his fading footsteps, Molly repeated to herself, "Girlfriend? Shouldn't it be... a substitute of that girl?"
  • Molly first met Robt eight years ago.
  • He and Cruz were university roommates. Because of their good relationship, Cruz would bring him home to play games from time to time.
  • In her tender youth, almost at first glance, she fell for this aloof, chill guy, whose dashing good looks left her heart skipping a beat.
  • Later, after she graduated from high school, Robt also graduated from college and returned to his hometown, Flurg City. Because she missed him, she secretly applied to the university in his city despite her family's objections.
  • Good-looking, she had been harassed by many hooligans in high school. Cruz was worried about her being alone in another city, so he entrusted her to his good friend, Robt, and even let her stay in his apartment.
  • In the beginning, the two of them did not interact much. She was busy with school, and Robt was busy with racing and dating. His girlfriends changed almost every three days.
  • It wasn't until the second semester of her freshman year, when Robt came back drunk, that she rushed to take care of him.
  • It was already late at night. She looked at him, who seemed to have fallen asleep on the sofa, and raised her hand, wanting to smoothen his furrowed eyebrows.
  • As their skin touched, the pair of tightly shut eyes suddenly opened.
  • Robt casually opened his eyes and asked in a lazy and magnetic voice, "Do you like me?"
  • Being exposed, Molly stood up. "No, no..."
  • Robt smiled lazily. "If you don't like me, why is your face so red every time you see me?"
  • Molly did not expect him to know she peeked at her every time. For a moment, she did not know what to do. However, Robt chuckled, gripping the back of her head, and gently pressed his lips against hers.
  • Falling into this gentle and lingering kiss, Molly could not extricate herself.
  • After a night of intimacy, Molly's originally peaceful life changed drastically.
  • Robt, the once wayward playboy appeared to have settled down, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to a serious relationship with her.
  • She had also rejected her parents and brother's request to meet guys many times, insisting on staying by his side in Flurg City.
  • Every time, her brother would always ask her, "Who is in Flurg City? Why didn't you come back for those six years?"
  • Every time, she wanted to tell everyone about her relationship with Robt and that she was with her brother's best buddy.
  • However, Robt always stopped her. She did not know why until a few days ago when Robt had drunk too much at the gathering. When she went to pick him up, a friend of his had drunk too much and pointed at her regretfully.
  • "How did this lovely girl end up being taken advantage of by that rascal?
  • "Little girl, don't fall in love with Robt. He is definitely heartless. You and his exes are just Grace's substitutes."
  • This was the first time Molly had heard the name of Grace Hurst. After that, she would never forget it.
  • After asking around, she finally found out the truth.
  • Robt and Grace Hurst were each other's first love. When he loved her the most, Grace broke up and went overseas.
  • He was trapped in the past and unable to move on, so he indulged himself in being a playboy in the world of romance, constantly dating girls.
  • And every girlfriend more or less carried the shadow of Grace.
  • This included Molly.
  • After graduation, he refused to inherit the family business and insisted on becoming a racer. It was also because of Grace's words when he was young. "The racers are so handsome. My future husband must be a racer."
  • It turned out that six years of youth and love were just illusions.
  • At that moment, Molly decided to go home and marry the guy her parents chose for her.
  • She didn't want Robt anymore. She wouldn't like him anymore.
