Chapter 7

  • When Cielo answered the phone, she was surprised to learn that the caller was 'Troy.'
  • "Can you tell me why you haven't gone yet?" she asked.
  • Instead of an answer, she was greeted by the sound of the phone being hung up.
  • Her head was bowed, her fists on her hips, and her face was flushed with rage.
  • What was it about everyone that made life so difficult for her?
  • Despite the fact that Helene and Levin were her parents, they had never shown her affection.
  • She was also compelled to marry Tyler. Who despised her so much that he refused to speak to or see her.
  • As if things weren't bad enough, 'Troy' wouldn't stop bothering her even when she tried to stay out of trouble.
  • However, would a man go to Tyler and accuse her of seducing him if she refused to recognize 'Troy' as a threat?
  • Cielo took a deep breath and stood up, thinking about this.
  • Because she had threatened Helene and Clarisse with the same thing, she couldn't risk 'Troy' saying anything stupid in front of Tyler. Whether the Hill family believed it or not, they would unquestionably sacrifice her to uphold their family's reputation.
  • ...................................
  • Cielo did not buy the meal 'Troy' had requested. Instead, she went to the grocery store to stock up on supplies for the week.
  • As soon as she walked through the door, she saw Troy lying on her little couch.
  • He sat on the couch with his legs crossed and his head resting against the back of it. Without his pale complexion, it would have been difficult to tell he was in pain.
  • Despite this, he seemed out of place in her small and modest home.
  • It didn't hurt that he grew up in a prosperous family. Even though he wasn't particularly pleasant, his grace could not be denied.
  • She set her shopping bags aside and knelt down to put on a new pair of shoes.
  • A piercingly cold aura suddenly enveloped her, threatening to consume her.
  • When she looked up, she was surprised to see 'Troy' standing in front of her, inspecting the merchandise.
  • "Are they what you bought?" he inquired, his brow furrowed.
  • Cielo scooped up the bags after she finished with her shoes and stated flatly, "Cooking for myself is less expensive." You should understand that I am a poor person."
  • Tyler noticed that her clothing appeared to be of poor quality as he examined her.
  • Indeed, his newlywed bride was living in abject poverty.
  • Cielo couldn't give a damn what he thought. She walked right past him and into the kitchen, where she lingered for some time.
  • .......................................
  • An hour later, Cielo finished cooking and brought the meals to the table.
  • Tyler set his phone down and gave her a sidelong glance. His gaze was then drawn to the dishes on the table.
  • To his surprise, the dishes appeared to be in excellent condition. They also had a neutral appearance, which was appropriate for a patient.
  • Cielo started eating after he finished filling a bowl of soup and placed it in front of him.
  • When she caught a glimpse of his face, she noticed that his expression had abruptly changed after a few mouthfuls of food.
  • Cielo's heart skipped a beat as he considered it.
  • What was the situation?
  • Was there anything she'd done that had made him angry?
  • Tyler lowered his spoon, a glum expression on his face. He struggled to his feet and walked out the door.
  • He was walking at a steady pace and did not appear to be tired.
  • Despite slowing her movements, Cielo did not follow him out.
  • Tyler rummaged through his pockets for a cigarette outside the door. It wasn't until much later that he realized there was no cigarette in the pack.
  • The familiar flavor he was tasting right now reminded him of his mother.
  • His mother was a gentle and elegant lady. Despite being born into an aristocratic family, she was gentle and moral. She was also an excellent cook.
  • Regrettably, this is where she ended up...
  • He tightened his grip and struck the wall hard, causing a loud crash and recalling the wet and filthy cellar.
  • Even Cielo, who was eating at the time, was awakened by the noise.
  • Cielo rose to his feet and opened the door after a brief hesitation. "What is that noise?" "What happened exactly?"
  • Tyler wore a glum expression on his face. Cielo's attention was drawn to the bleeding back of his hand, and she gasped, her mouth wide open. "You..."
  • The cuisine was not tainted by any unusual ingredients. Why would he take a chance and hurt himself?
  • Tyler turned away from her and was about to walk away when his phone rang. He didn't respond.
  • For a brief moment, he looked down at his phone. He immediately disconnected the call and hung up the phone because the number was unfamiliar to him.
  • Then he turned to Cielo and said, "Let's go in."
  • She detected a note of restraint in his voice. He also had a threatening expression on his face.
  • Cielo felt a pang of fear as he returned to the room, sensing danger. She contemplated locking him out of the house while holding the door half-closed with one hand.
  • Tyler had been completely oblivious to her anguish since his phone rang again.
  • However, instead of an odd number, the phone screen displayed the name 'Arthur Stone.'
  • Tyler picked up the phone without hesitation. "What is he contacting me for?" he said as he answered the phone, completely ignoring Cielo's presence.
  • "He's asking you to bring Madam Cielo home for dinner tonight," Arthur, on the other end of the phone line, said.
  • "Ha!" Tyler made a sneering expression. "Don't be alarmed if he calls you the next time you see him."
  • "All right, he's not the one who pays me anyhow," Arthur agreed, adding, "He's not the one who pays me anyway."
  • Tyler looked up after hanging up the phone and noticed Cielo stumbling at the front door.
  • "Were you eavesdropping?"
  • Cielo immediately shook her head, "No."
  • She reasoned that provocation would be counterproductive at this point.
  • "Can you please tell me why you're still standing there?" Tyler then took a step forward and looked at her with contempt. "Have you made up your mind to give up on Tyler and be with me?" he asked, a little lasciviously.
  • When Cielo heard it, she turned around and shut the door behind her.
  • Tyler didn't seem to be moved by her heinous actions.
  • He'd been here for the previous two days to see if the guy he'd been pursuing the day before was still there.
  • Because that person was no longer present, there was no reason for him to remain at Cielo's house.
  • He could also tell Cielo was quick-witted and pleasant, which was a plus. As a result, he decided to leave her alone for the time being, confident that she would not interfere with his plan.
  • ...........................................
  • Tyler had arrived at the alley's entrance, where Arthur awaited him.
  • Arthur made his way over to Tyler with determination the moment he saw him. "Boss, are you all right?" he asked, his expressionless features tinged with concern.
  • With a wave of his hand, Tyler released his hand from Arthur's grasp. "I'm perfectly fine."
  • Tyler got into his car, and Arthur helped him open the door. He leaned back in his seat after getting into the car and asked Arthur flatly, "Has he been calling you for the past few days?"
  • "Mr. Smith told me that you'd blocked his number, but when he called you with a different number, you didn't answer them," Arthur said, knowing who Tyler was referring to. That's why he decided to get in touch with me instead."
  • "Alright." "I just got a phone call from Mr. Smith, who informed me that you were not bringing Madam Cielo back for dinner and that he would contact her himself," she said.
  • Tyler couldn't believe what he was hearing for a moment.
  • After a long time, Arthur could finally hear him say, "Up to him."
  • ....................................
  • After finishing her supper, Cielo's phone rang just as she was about to begin washing the dishes.
  • It was a random number.
  • However, because it had been ringing for a long time, it did not appear to be a nuisance call.
  • "Good day, my name is Cielo."
  • "I am Tyler's father, Felix Smith."
