Chapter 6

  • Cielo had never before experienced sleepwalking.
  • "You..." she said hesitantly.
  • Tyler replied quietly, "I'm hurt."
  • Cielo had never shared a bed with a man before. It was her first experience. His aura was simply too frightening for her, and she was unable to express her rage.
  • She peeled the duvet over her shoulders as she climbed out of bed, an anxious grin on her face. Tyler intervened before she could do anything.
  • "Why do you have such a light skin tone on your hands but not on your face?" he questioned her.
  • Cielo drew her hand back as she realized what she had done. "I was born that way," she replied gently.
  • As soon as she realized what had happened, she jumped out of bed and dashed to the restroom.
  • Tyler's interest was piqued even more by her response.
  • .........................................
  • To be precise, in the bathroom.
  • As she examined her sallow complexion in the mirror, a self-deprecating smirk appeared on her face.
  • So she went to the bathroom, got a makeup remover bottle, and started removing her makeup.
  • She transformed into a lovely lady in a matter of minutes.
  • If Cielo hadn't been living in her leased apartment since she graduated, she would have forgotten what she looked like.
  • It was only natural for her mother to be pleased with her daughter, given her daughter's stunning beauty.
  • Helene, on the other hand, had always resented her for taking Clarisse's place in the spotlight as a teenager. As a result, she had never bought herself nice clothes.
  • Cielo was putting in a lot of effort right now to get Helene's approval.
  • She had gone from being the top student in her grade and the school queen to being regarded as a "ugly kid" who had won last place...
  • Helene refused to recognize her, despite her attempts, indicating that she was dissatisfied.
  • She had refused to consider the possibility that Helen did not care about her at all.
  • Cielo emerged from the restroom about half an hour later, having disguised herself once more.
  • Tyler appeared to be thinking about something while leaning against the headboard, holding his phone. His lack of expression made him appear more distant than he was.
  • "I'm going out," she said after a brief moment of thought. You could have someone come and pick you up."
  • Tyler was eerily quiet.
  • Ignoring him, Cielo took her luggage and left the house.
  • She had resigned from her previous position quickly because Helene had told her to go home.
  • As a result, she needed to find another job in order to support herself.
  • ................................
  • The morning flew by in an instant.
  • Cielo was waiting for the next bus at the bus stop.
  • She was startled when a dark vehicle stopped in front of her.
  • The car window was lowered to reveal a young man with a bright smile. "Hey, Cielo, where are you going?" "Hey, Cielo, where are you going?"
  • Cielo's eyes glowed with delight. "David?" she asked, her voice tinged with anticipation. "What exactly are you doing here?"
  • "Come on, get in the vehicle." "I can't keep the car stopped for too long." David Scott opened the vehicle door for her as he spoke.
  • Cielo entered the vehicle. As soon as she shut the door, she heard David say, "I'm going to have lunch with Clarisse." "Come on along with us."
  • Was he romantically involved with Clarisse?
  • Cielo should have thought about this sooner rather than later.
  • For quite some time, everyone had claimed that Clarisse and David were a match made in heaven.
  • However, the two of them had never been together before. That was why Cielo had kept her feelings hidden and remained friends with David.
  • "I still have a lot of stuff to take care of," she admitted with a forced grin. "I'm afraid I won't be able to join you..."
  • "Please do not refuse me. We haven't had dinner together in a long time." David's tone was firm, and he didn't let her resist in the least.
  • They arrived at the restaurant not long after.
  • Clarisse's face darkened quickly when she saw Cielo and David enter the room.
  • David, on the other hand, was completely unaware of the change in her expression. "Clarisse, I happened to see Cielo on the way here, so I invited her to come along."
  • "Of course not," Clarisse replied with a grin.
  • "I'm going to the restroom." "I'll be right back," David said, turning to walk away.
  • Clarisse's smile quickly faded after he left. "Are you trying to hook up with David now that the cripple has failed to meet your expectations?"
  • Cielo was horrified with herself after seeing Clarisse's grim expression. "Can you tell me what kind of nonsense you're talking about?"
  • Clarisse snorted, "You know quite well whether I'm spouting nonsense or not." "Do you have the courage to admit to yourself that you don't care about David?"
  • Cielo bowed her head and remained silent for a few moments.
  • She lacked the courage to say what she really wanted to say.
  • David was the guy she had always had a crush on.
  • Clarisse was taken aback and asked, "David?"
  • Cielo was surprised to see David emerge from the restroom when she lifted her head.
  • She looked at David, unsure how much he had heard.
  • David's gaze was unexpectedly drawn away from her.
  • Cielo was well aware that David had to be watching everything.
  • Clarisse smiled contentedly as she calmed him. "Take it easy, David. There is no need to be concerned. In contrast, Cielo is married."
  • Clarisse thought Davis's response was entirely typical. Which guy would be unconcerned if an unattractive and foolish lady fell in love with him? Tyler's cousin was the only person who did not participate.
  • She reasoned that 'Troy' was acting this way because he was bored and in need of some excitement.
  • "Cielo, are you married?" It was only then that David turned around and looked her in the eyes.
  • "She was eager to marry into the Smith family." True, the Smiths are wealthy and powerful, but having a spouse like him is extremely unusual."
  • Clarisse inhaled deeply. She shook her head, a sad expression on her face.
  • Cielo, on the other hand, could see Clarisse's implication that she married into the Smith family in order to become wealthy.
  • David furrowed his brows. "Regardless of the outcome," he said to Cielo, "thank you for marrying into the Smith family on Clarisse's behalf."
  • "To be honest with you, David and I would not be together if it weren't for you," Clarisse admitted.
  • Cielo bit her lower lip as she explained in a raspy voice, "What she stated is not the truth."
  • Despite the fact that Cielo was well aware that she would never be in a relationship with David. She didn't want him to think she was selfish and materialistic.
  • "Cielo, you don't need to explain," David said with a scowl on his face. I completely understand what you're going through. Despite Tyler's...poor physical condition, the Smith family would not be unkind to you."
  • When Cielo realized what had happened, his heart sank.
  • At this precise moment, her phone vibrated.
  • She took her phone from her pocket and discovered a text message with a long list of food options.
  • She had no idea who had sent the message to her. She could, on the other hand, use it as an excuse to leave.
  • "An unexpected event occurred. "I need to get going." Cielo then rose to his feet.
  • "I don't care," she said as she looked David in the eyes. "It's true that I used to have a soft spot for you. But all of that is in the past now. If you want to know why I married Tyler Smith in the first place, Clarisse is the person to ask. It is entirely up to you whether you believe her."
  • She adored David because he was the first guy she'd met who didn't dislike her. Furthermore, he had feelings for her.
  • At this point, it appeared to be a ruse to gain sympathy.
  • The Scotts and the Hills have always had a close friendship. Given the length of time he had known Cielo, David couldn't have failed to recognize her personality.
  • Even her own mother was skeptical at first. How could she expect David, a complete stranger, to have faith in her?
  • Cielo then walked out of the room without looking back.
  • "I used to believe Cielo was a pure and nice girl; it never occurred to me that she would..." she overheard David say to Clarisse as she shut the door.
  • Clarisse, who was still putting on a brave face, lamented, "I didn't anticipate it either..."
  • Cielo clenched her fists and pressed her lips together in frustration and rage. She then walked out of the restaurant without even looking back.
  • The phone in her pocket rang again, and she answered it without looking.
  • The message said, in a deep and recognizable voice, "Get me all the food I've mentioned on the message."
