Chapter 6 A Body Donation Agreement

  • Joshua Walker inadvertently furrowed his brow.
  • Amanda Moore was being too greedy. The capital injection he gave to her father was not a small amount, and she still wanted more? Even though he was not short on money, it wasn't like his money grew on trees.
  • What else did she want? Designer clothes, luxury bags, gold jewelry, precious gems, fancy cars, expensive watches, villas?
  • He reached out again, pressing down the tuft of hair that was sticking up, and took a deep breath: "What condition?"
  • Amanda Moore was afraid of scaring him off, so she didn't dare to say it directly and spoke ambiguously: "It's something I really need. We can talk about it when we meet. How about tomorrow afternoon?"
  • Her words were vague, and Joshua Walker didn't expect that Amanda Moore, at such a young age, would have such composure and cunning. He suddenly felt a sense of displeasure at being manipulated, and his expression darkened slightly. Just as he was about to ask more, Amanda Moore had already hung up on the other end.
  • The fingers of his hand clutching the phone tightened instantly, and the sound of him grinding his teeth was clearly audible. After a long moment, he called his assistant: "Help me check on Joseph Evans' recent family situation."
  • Joshua Walker disliked things that were beyond his control. Since the matter of finding a pretend girlfriend to reassure his grandfather about the surgery was urgent, he wanted to understand in advance what Amanda Moore wanted to gain, in order to take the initiative.
  • Previously, he had focused on investigating Joseph Evans' financial situation but hadn't delved deeply into the family. Fortunately, his assistant was not incompetent, and two hours later, the information was placed on his desk.
  • The assistant cleared his throat: "Since Joseph Evans has incurred a huge debt, there have been significant problems with his marriage with Mrs. Moore. They have had several arguments recently, and Mrs. Moore is currently in a state of separation."
  • He spread his hands: "The debt incurred by Joseph Evans is considered a joint debt of the couple. Mrs. Moore has sold most of her fixed assets to help repay the debt, including real estate and shops. She has also had to run around and act to repay the debt. She currently resides in a dilapidated residential building, and compared to her previous lifestyle, her current situation is quite difficult. Moreover, based on the debt owed by Joseph Evans, her last remaining small house may not be secure."
  • Joshua Walker began to see some clarity and raised his eyebrows to ask, "What about Amanda Moore?"
  • "Unless there's an exception, Miss Moore should be closer to her mother," the assistant said with a smile. "For some reason, Horizon University refuses to provide information about Miss Moore, but from the available data, she seems to be just an ordinary young person who recently graduated, with a high level of education."
  • Joshua Walker snorted silently. Not at all, she had her schemes as well.
  • The assistant continued, "She hasn't been working for long, doesn't have many savings, and hasn't bought any property. She currently lives in the research institute dormitory with her colleagues."
  • With these pieces of information, Joshua Walker quickly sorted out the clues. For Amanda Moore at the moment, a house was what she needed, or else she and her mother would soon face the predicament of having nowhere to live. If he wasn't mistaken... did Amanda Moore want a house?
  • In the end, it still comes down to money. She's good at creating mysteries. But no matter how calculating she is, as long as he knows what she urgently needs now, he's not worried about her not compromising.
  • Joshua Walker instructed his assistant, "I have a property in Hartley Park under my name, not far from her research institute. Please bring me the contract and also call Lawyer Vaughn..."
  • He issued a few more instructions. The assistant had never seen him so attentive to a woman, inquiring about her family and preparing a real estate contract. Rich people were indeed different, casually offering a high-end apartment in Hartley Park just to pursue a woman.
  • While lost in thought, he hurried off to take care of the matter.
  • Before long, the lawyer had drafted a contract that appeared to be a gift, but in fact, every clause ensured Joshua Walker's interests. If Amanda Moore did not follow his instructions, he had the right to reclaim the property at any time.
  • Joshua Walker flicked the thin sheets of paper, his lips curling up in an evil smile.
  • Now, how could Amanda Moore possibly escape his grasp?
  • The meeting place for the second time was still the same café as yesterday, and Joshua Walker had even arrived early on purpose.
  • Unlike yesterday's casual attire, he was dressed in slightly more formal clothes today. His slightly curly hair was neatly styled, highlighting his striking and alluring features. Just sitting there, he exuded a sense of supreme dominance.
  • Thinking about the embarrassment he suffered yesterday, he was determined to regain his pride today and had made thorough preparations. He refused to believe that Amanda Moore could still not succumb this time.
  • When Amanda Moore sat down in front of him, she cleared her throat and said, "I have an experiment in the afternoon, so let's make this quick."
  • Joshua Walker waited for Amanda Moore to propose her condition.
  • He had brought the contract that his lawyer had drafted yesterday. The value of a high-end property in Hartley City spoke for itself, and Amanda Moore was clearly after money.
  • As soon as she spoke, he planned to throw the contract he had prepared yesterday in front of her, forcing her to agree and watching her expressions of miscalculation.
  • Joshua Walker envisioned this scene in his mind, feeling a sense of triumph.
  • Amanda Moore reached into her backpack and said, "My condition is..."
  • She pulled out a contract and slapped it in front of Joshua Walker, her eyes gleaming as she said, "Please sign this body donation agreement."
  • Joshua Walker's grin of indifference froze, and a question mark slowly appeared on his face. "?"
  • The scene of throwing the contract did happen, but the roles were reversed, and... body, donation, agreement? Was there something wrong with his ears?
  • According to normal logic, shouldn't she be asking for money or property?!
  • The tuft of hair on top of his head, which had been neatly styled, once again broke free of its restraints and slowly started to stand on end. Seeing that Joshua Walker remained silent for a long time, Amanda Moore thought he had doubts and tried to persuade him: "Don't worry, the body donation agreement is completely confidential and will only take effect after your natural death. It will not affect your daily life in any way."
  • It sounded even more chilling.
  • She spoke with conviction, as if at a conference: "With the development of the times, people's thoughts are also gradually opening up. Many young people choose body or organ donation so that they can contribute to the world again after their death..."
  • "Wait a minute," Joshua Walker finally came back to his senses: "Why do you want me to sign such an agreement?"
  • Joshua Walker had grown up in the complex circles of wealthy families and had seen his fair share of cunning schemes. He had to be extremely careful with every contract, let alone a body donation agreement.
  • As an experienced actor who had performed in countless dramas, he quickly imagined a series of cases involving murder, theft, destruction of evidence, and disposal of the body. His expression became even more subtle.
  • When he asked this, Amanda Moore sighed with concern: "Our school doesn't have many donated cadavers, and several departments are almost fighting over them for dissection research, so the more people who sign the body donation agreement, the better."
  • Of course, she didn't mention the reason that Joshua Walker looked like her first cadaver she dissected herself.
  • Joshua Walker: "..." Is that it?
  • He always felt that Amanda Moore had ulterior motives and didn't believe her excuse at all. He simply brought the topic back: "So, if I don't sign this agreement, you won't agree to pretend to be my girlfriend?" Did she really consider money as dirt?
  • Amanda Moore knew that it was quite difficult to convince someone to donate their body at once. She scratched her head: "As long as you're willing to donate, I can help you with this." She added: "Of course, the premise is that it won't take up too much of my time."
  • Such an answer made her seem even more suspicious.
  • Joshua Walker's eyes narrowed slightly as he scrutinized her for a moment. After some contemplation, he nodded slightly: "Okay, let's settle on this for now."
  • After all, he had invested real money in helping Joseph Evans, so there was no issue of indebtedness.
  • "As for this..." He stood up, took the body donation agreement from her fingertips, and snorted: "I'll have my legal team review it first."
  • As a scientific researcher, Amanda Moore greatly appreciated this behavior: "Being meticulous is a good thing."
  • Joshua Walker looked at her strangely from top to bottom, his lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he just snorted and turned to leave.
  • There weren't many people in the experimental building at this time, as the new deputy director had just taken office, and Director Clark had specifically called an internal meeting for all staff to help them get familiarized quickly.
  • Amanda Moore chose this time to meet Joshua Walker precisely because she didn't want to see Daniel Martin. Of course, she wouldn't go to the meeting room to seek trouble at this time.
  • She returned to her office and was about to complete the calculation formula from the morning when she noticed that the whiteboard was a bit loose. She shook it at the bottom to confirm that the board was completely loose.
  • She was about to call the engineering department for repairs when the top screw of the whiteboard completely came loose, and the entire board fell straight down.
  • Amanda Moore instinctively raised her arm to block it, and a large, slender hand suddenly appeared from nowhere, firmly supporting the whiteboard and pressing it back into place.
  • A slightly amused, low, mellow voice sounded from above her head: "I've been looking for you for a long time. So you were here."
  • Amanda Moore looked up and saw Daniel Martin smiling, looking down at her.
  • Daniel Martin sighed with a smile: "Long time no see."
