Chapter 9 That's Why I Apologised

- The curtains to my room are pushed to the side, and violent rays of sunlight come crashing inside, almost blinding me. I squint my eyes; the face of my mother slowly settles in my vision, her smile bright and welcoming. As I try to sit upright, my mom joins me in bed.
- “Aren’t you supposed to be out of town for another three days or so?” I asked Mom, brushing the sleep away from my eyes. Next to her, my alarm goes off. We both look at it before Mom focuses her attention on it, ultimately forcing me to do the same.
