Chapter 4 (Instructor)
- While we almost reached the entrance of the building, Anika shrieked making me to stumble and stop. She looked at me apologetically and said that she left her mobile in our room.
- “I’m sorry sissy, I’ll go and get my mobile while you go and grab a chair for me next to you and please don’t sit in the front.” She said pleadingly.
- Immediately after she said that, she started running towards our hostel holding her saree. It’s funny to watch this kid.
- Wait.. Kid? Did I say kid? Does that mean I myself admitting as an old person? No.. no.. that can’t be…
- I sighed before walking inside and my mobile beeped indicating a message I received. I quickly took it out from my bag expecting it to be from Harry.
- Sadly, it was not him but my mother, she wished me luck for my first day of college. I smiled and quickly sent her a message while walking. And banggg....
- Ouch… I just got hit on the wall, and.. wait why does the wall move and has hands? It just went to hold my waist. I kept my right hand on my forehead though it was not paining but as a reflexive move.
- I opened the eyes that was closing on impact, and found the wall to be clothed with a pale green tight-fitting shirt.
- So, was it a chest of a man and not a wall? I lifted my eyes just to look at the handsome face having beautiful brown eyes, straight nose and a kissable lip with a moustache like the great Tamil poet Bharatiyar.
- Wow.. he has the sexy smile... and those eyes which was giving a contempt and concern look just turned into a playful one and did that wink at me?
- Shit.. shit.. he just caught me checking on him, I just got mesmerized by someone who is not my husband.
- Who is he? A student like me? How am I going to study along with him it’s so awkward. I quickly released myself from his hold on my waist.
- I felt goosebumps just thinking about what just happened.
- “ I.. I.. I’m sorry. I was checking my mobile and didn’t see what is in the front. My mistake” I said and I saw him nodding his head before leaving from the place.
- Seriously? Not even a single word? Fine that’s good we will behave as nothing happened between us.
- Ahhh... wait... why am I even thinking like that. Nothing has happened for sure, we just bumped into each other.
- Why my heart is beating like any time it will come out and as if I cheated on my husband? Shit, I should hold myself and all my emotions.
- I walked into the classroom and saw the middle row of chairs and sat on them, with my bag I grabbed the seat for Anika.
- It took her some minutes to enter the class, chatting with two more hostelers. She waved me a hand and walked towards me to sit on her chair.
- I saw those two students to come closer to our desk and occupying the empty chairs behind. Seeing closer I found out they are the two students who thought I’m a senior student.
- I can see their faces turning awkward, I smiled at them and they smiled back sheepishly.
- Anika and those girls started talking about their interests and everything. I didn’t feel like joining and I took my notebook out.
- Taking out my pen, I started drawing at the back pages of the notebook. Drawing was always my friend relieving me from all awkwardness.
- I was totally engrossed, that is when Anika tapped my shoulder. I looked at her to find her signalling me towards the front.
- I saw six instructors to come onto the podium and sitting on the chairs arranged. I straightened myself closing the notebook as I understood the orientation programme is about to start.
- One of the lady instructors came towards the mic and started with the introduction speech. As I listened, I can say most of all colleges have some similar speech.
- It bored me and I started looking at my nails wondering should I paint or not. I felt this topic to be interested.
- As I’m not even listening to the speech, I felt a pair of eyes boring holes on my head. I lifted my eyes to see my aunt, she is one of the instructors and was glaring at me for not focusing on the speech that her fellow instructor is giving.
- I sighed, seriously? It’s too boring. How can she expect me to listen to them, while I myself knows everything already from this glaring aunt of mine.
- I pouted at her with a puppy-eyes and she glared at me even more. And I thought of pissing her even more.
- So, I secretly sent her a flying kiss and her eyes widened in disbelief of my naughtiness. I can see her controlling her smile, seeing that I was happy too.
- I wanted to tease her even more and so, again I sent her a flying kiss. But it wasn’t delivered to her like before.
- There was someone else, a middle man grabbed it who suddenly came and sat before my aunt. I looked at the person and was shocked.
- The same ‘wall man’ he looked at me in the eyes and I can see a smile hanging around the corner of his lips.
- Why is he sitting there, don’t tell me he is one of the instructors. Hell, he winked at me again that too with the students filled in the classroom.
- I can see him, showing his closed palms as if that caught my flying kiss which he casually put them inside his pocket that was on the chest.
- My cheeks started flaring up with embarrassment and awkwardness filling up my head. Is he really an instructor? Why is he behaving like a teenager?
- I felt shy to look at the people sitting on the podium and I kept my head down. Whenever I tried to lift my head, his eyes always meet mine and I hurry looking down.
- I don’t know whether my fellow students witnessed those moments. If so, I don’t know how to face them.
- I kept playing with my pen, not bothered to look up and meet his eyes again. Hoping this orientation ends soon.
