- I was fuming with frustration, feeling like I was just someone he could dismiss with a few cold words. It hurt deep down, it stung more than I cared to admit. It was as if I no longer mattered, as if only our child did. And though I wanted to speak up, I couldn’t do anything but comply with his wishes. For now, I told myself, I’ll let it go. I’ll give in, just this once.
- He went upstairs with Asher, leaving me alone in the living room. Since I gave birth, I hadn’t stepped outside the house. Not once. The world beyond these walls had become a distant memory, and the only way I knew what was going on was through social media and whatever I caught on TV.
