Chapter 5
- Bella 's POV
- I decide to play some soothing country music, about three to bring me out of this gloomy mood, then I move on to inspirational and then love music, songs under this category always go a long way in clearing the clouds off my head.
- I have thirty minutes to arrive at Guam as that's the estimated time given by my google map, with the use of a car. At some point, nothing matters to me, I sense it's part of my healing process. First I was burdened by what just happened, then I'm not feeling anything at all, just focused on the road before me.
- A call comes through my phone, I pick it up, it's Melech . Sunshine comes back into my life, I smile for the first time after what happened at home, I start to feel blushy, before I realize I'm all blushing, I feel butterflies in my stomach, it just marvels how I would be feeling all these just by seeing his call, not like I saw him in real life, I haven't seen him yet, I wonder if I'd lose my breath when I set my eyes on him at Guam.
- I click on accept, already I have wasted so much time in thinking of him and what I would say, also trying to train my voice to speak normally after the anger and tears caused by dad.
- "Hello," I decided to stop here, to hear his reaction.
- "Hello baby, what, you aren't informal as you have always done?" I laugh out loud.
- "Sorry honey, I just wanted to test your reaction."
- "Ohhh!"
- The way he even replies sounds so funny that we begin to laugh. Slowly and gradually, the memory of what just happened to me is being chased away. I'm glad about this, I don't just know, I'm so graced to have Melech as mine.
- "Where are you now baby?"
- I look out of my car window, scanning the environment to see if I'll see the road signs or an address indicating which road or street I am. Then I found a sign by the side of the road.
- "It's Greenland Avenue." I confirm from my phone which has the feature of tracking the name of the place you are at currently. The timer which is to end at thirty minutes has gone through twenty already.
- "Okay, ten minutes to go!" He heaves a sigh of relief. "But I have something to say." I hear this, suspense comes up. What's he going to say again? I can't afford to ask myself. He asked me to come here, now he wants to say something, I hope it's not some bad or disappointing news.
- "Let me hear it!" I maintain a normal tone so that I wouldn't sound so desperate, all of this, I've learnt as etiquette to abide by when you meet a guy.
- "Our coach called for us all to attend an emergency meeting. I went out to buy some snacks, so I would be back soon to the lounge to enter the meeting, although I would be late and sure to get some punishment. Yeah, no problem with that. It's my fault!"
- I gasp in shock. "Punished as the Alpha?" I ask in shock. Amusement and shock flies into me both at the same time. "I thought there were references to one's position?"
- "Yeah, are you shocked!" He smirks in an amused style. "Being an Alpha and a baseball player are two different worlds and passions. Yes, my coach respects me so much but I just want to follow the stated disciplinary measures for lateness, as an example to some players who are arrogant and stubborn, that no one is above the law."
- "Oh, I got you now!" I nod my head with a smile on my lips. I'm beginning to get interested in this, and curious to know deeper. "So what are the stipulated punishments for lateness?"
- "Find a hundred and fifty dollars for training before you become part of it and a hundred dollars for meetings like this. There are alternatives which are standing for thirty minutes with the coach in front as he is demonstrating and talking to the players. You could be asked to sit without motion for forty-five minutes as if you are watching a movie in the cinema which has taken the whole of you. I can tell you apart from finings, other stipulated punishments are pure fun!"
- I laugh at his gist in reaction. Then I heave in a blissful satisfaction, it's as if my sorrows flows out with my breath as I breathe in and then out.
- "Wow, that's interesting!"
- "So I would meet with you immediately. I'm out of the meeting, would you wait for me. The meeting shouldn't be taking more than thirty or thirty-five minutes, that's our normal meeting duration."
- "I will!"
- The call has ended and I once again focus on the road. Upon arriving at the club's base in Guam, my joy knew no bounds. I drive through the second gate, leading to the parking lot for fans as directed by the officials stationed at the gate whose job is to direct visitors who are coming to see the players or the club's official.
- Since today isn't a match day, there are few fans touring around the stadium. I wait alongside them, just wishing I would see Melech come past. My heart is playing music and rioting with passion right now. I try to imagine what his reaction would be when he meets me in real life.
