Chapter 30

  • Rosalina's POV
  • I check my watch, adjusting the strap against my wrist as I step out of the office lobby, completely exhausted from a long day of reviewing contract clauses. The last thing I need today is more friction, which is exactly why I freeze when I spot the delicate, familiar silhouette waiting near the glass doors. I truly hadn't expected Minerva to come looking for me in person. She usually prefers to operate from the shadows, sending frantic text messages or orchestrating minor emergencies to pull Jordan away from me. Seeing her standing on my turf is a bizarre shift in the board.
  • Realizing that a public corporate lobby is the worst place to have a family scene, I guide her down the block. I take Minerva to a quiet, tucked-away cafe down the street, selecting a secluded booth near the back where the low hum of the espresso machine can drown out our voices. The moment we sit down, I lean back and look at her across the small wooden table. My patience is already incredibly thin from dealing with my father and Jordan over the last forty-eight hours, so I don't bother with polite pleasantries.
