Chapter 21
- Rosalina’s POV
- By the time the late afternoon sun begins to dip below the city skyline, throwing long, amber shadows across the pavement, I have checked off two monumental milestones on my personal ledger. First, I have finally made Jordan fully understand my complete, unyielding determination to break our engagement. Second, I have officially paid in full for the small, one-thousand-square-foot apartment I am currently hiding out in.
- Every single cent I earned and ruthlessly saved over the three years since graduating from law school went into this purchase. It took my entire bank balance—plus the bitter sweet "labor compensation" I squeezed out of Jordan the night before—but the moment the heavy paper of the property deed is pressed into my hands, the sheer relief is dizzying. I trace the ink of my name with a trembling index finger. For the first time in five years, I feel as though I have been handed the keys to a completely new life. I am no longer a transient soul waiting to be tucked into the corner of an Alpha's grand villa. I am a woman with a foundation.
