Chapter 40

  • Author’s POV
  • After Rosalina left, a suffocating, heavy silence fell over Jordan’s executive suite. The air remained thick with the ringing echoes of her savage, unfiltered departure, leaving the room so intensely quiet that one could have easily heard a pin drop onto the plush carpet. For several long minutes, neither of the remaining occupants moved. Jordan stood frozen behind his desk, his chest heaving with a volatile mixture of wounded pride and lingering shock. Only after a protracted, agonizing silence did he finally release a ragged, trembling breath, forcing his rigid posture to relax.
  • He crossed the room with heavy, deliberate steps, his expression instantly softening as he knelt beside the velvet couch. He reached out to take Minerva’s trembling hands into his own. "Minerva, please, look at me. Don't be upset by her garbage," he said, his deep baritone vibrating with a fierce, protective gentleness. "She has always been exactly like that—unbelievably sharp-tongued, cold, and utterly vicious whenever she doesn't get her way. Don't worry about her threats, Minnie. I absolutely will not let you suffer this trauma for nothing. This relationship isn't over. Not by a long shot. She will learn her place before the month ends."
