Chapter 1 Mistaken Identity

  • “Zachary Larson, you will never survive today!” A loud explosion could be heard as a young man dragged an aloof and cold young girl with him, leading a large group of men as they rushed toward the bow.
  • “Haha! Even if I were to die, I wouldn't die at your hands.” The young man, who was covered in blood, threw himself into the rough sea behind him.
  • “He got away!” Amidst the commotion, someone shouted and countless mercenaries fired wildly into the sea with submachine guns.
  • “Zachary Larson has escaped, Mr. Gibson,” an elderly man whispered embarrassingly to a young man, who seemed to be the leader of the group.
  • “Don't worry, he has nowhere to go. Even though Zachary is the leader of one of the top four mercenary groups, and also a world-class highly-skilled fighter with three hundred thousand subordinates under him, he doesn't know how to swim. No matter how talented or skilled he is, Zachary has never learned how to swim well. Having known about this weakness of his, I brought all of you here to besiege him at sea. Since we're about to reach Chanaea's waters, we should avoid any conflict with the Chanaean navy. Let's go.” The young man, who was dressed in a military uniform, turned around and left. His gaze was cold and arrogant.
  • Five days later, at a coastal city in the northern region of Chanaea, Zachary was found alive.
  • At that moment, he sat on the hospital bed in a daze, exchanging glances with a pretty lady in a police uniform for almost half an hour.
  • “You've improved now, haven't you? You've learned how to run away from home.”
  • The pretty lady in a police uniform raised one corner of her mouth, crossing her leg over the other. Her legs were long and slender, and her physique was stunning. She possessed a valiant and charismatic aura to her. As she gazed at Felix Larson, the man in front of her, there was a hint of disdain and contempt in her eyes and smile.
  • “I think you've got the wrong person.” Zachary tried to hold his breath.
  • The entire hospital ward was filled with the lady's alluring body scent.
  • “Oh? I've mistaken you for someone else?” The pretty lady smiled as the contempt in her eyes deepened. With an aloof tone, she asked, “In that case, my dear husband, I'd like to know if your last name is Larson? And your full name is Felix Larson, am I right?
  • “It's true that my last name is Larson, but I'm not Felix Larson. My name is Zachary Larson,” he replied.
  • “Oh, so that means I've mistaken you for someone else.” The pretty lady smiled as she cast a glance toward the little girl beside her.
  • Next to her was a little girl who was around five years old. She had an innocent face, but her eyes were unusually bright and inquisitive. The little girl wore a gothic-style white dress and a pair of black leather shoes matched with white stockings. She looked mature for her age.
  • Suddenly, both the little girl and the pretty lady in uniform burst into laughter. There was mockery and derision in their laughter.
  • “Very clever of him to actually change a name for himself,” said the lady.
  • Zachary felt speechless upon hearing her remarks.
  • “I suppose this is yours as well?” The lady smiled as she held up a passport with her fair and slender fingers.
  • “Yes, it's mine.” Zachary nodded slightly.
  • “You've got some nerve to forge a fake passport with border stamps from over twenty different nations. So you've been to more than twenty other countries? Even if you wanted to fabricate a new identity, you should've done it in a more convincing manner.” She tossed the passport away, letting it fall into the trash bin.
  • “How dare throw away my...” Zachary took a deep breath.
  • “This is yours, too?” The lady then picked up a black credit card.
  • “That's right.” Zachary nodded slightly again.
  • “Do you think you're a wealthy man after you happened to find someone else's black card? Why? Are you thinking of using this card to buy a plane?” She laughed.
  • “Can't I?” Zachary asked.
  • “Haha.” The lady let go of the card, and it landed in the trash bin.
  • “You've gone too far, pretty lady.” A pang of sorrow rose in Zachary's chest.
  • Zachary was the leader of one of the top four well-known mercenary groups, as well as a world-class highly skilled fighter with thirty thousand subordinates under his lead. However, he was severely injured when he leaped into the sea after being ambushed by enemies at sea. He had thought he would perish eventually. Unexpectedly, he was rescued by the fishermen at sea and handed over to the pretty lady in front of him. The lady's name was Natalie Baines, who happened to have a husband that looked exactly like Zachary. Her husband, Felix, was a matrilocal son-in-law in the Baines family. After being mistreated by the family, he could not take it any longer and decided to run away from home. And now, Zachary had been mistaken by Natalie for her husband, and he was being ridiculed at that moment.
  • On his blanket was a diary, which detailed everything about Felix. On the page, that was laid out to him, wrote: I can't take it anymore! Natalie doesn't even think of me as her husband! Not only won't she allow me to touch her, but she would also bully and mistreat me every day. I'd rather go back to my old life. I'm leaving and never coming back here forever. Forever!
  • No matter how Zachary tried to explain, Natalie would not listen to any of his words, thinking that he was her loser husband who was going against her.
  • The actual Zachary Larson was a world-class mercenary leader who was a globally influential and powerful figure who stood above the rest. Besides that, the black card's credit limit had an astounding figure in it, which enabled the base of his mercenary's headquarters to own three fighter jets, as well as ten military helicopters.
  • “How dare you impersonate a major-general and give yourself the rank of a major-general? And you even had a pile of useless and worn-out medals? Do you think you're worthy of wearing this major-general uniform?” Natalie then grabbed Zachary's uniform and medals, dumping all of them into the trash bin.
  • Soon, a caretaker came in and took the trash away.
  • Zachary was on the verge of breaking down in tears. “Miss, I'm really not your husband. My name is Zachary Larson!”
  • “You jerk! My dad's already in intensive care after he was so mad that you ran away from home, and now, you're not even admitting that you're Felix? I, Natalie Baines, admit that I dislike you. If it weren't because your father and mine were lifelong friends and that your father sacrificed himself during a mission, I wouldn't have married you just because no one could take care of you and your mother. But what about my dad? Was he not good to you? He cares for you the most in this world. It's bad enough that you're a coward and a pervert, and yet you threw your conscience away like that. What exactly do you want, really? Are you trying to kill my father by making him so mad?”
  • All of a sudden, Natalie grabbed Zachary's collar, and her beautiful eyelids quickly turned a shade of pink.
  • “Y-You...” Zachary chest felt unusually suffocating.
  • As he glanced at the diary in front of him, he thought it would be hard to prove his innocence this time. As soon as he woke up, Zachary suddenly became a matrilocal son-in-law with a beautiful wife and a young adopted daughter. However, he had to take the blame for whatever that loser, Felix Larson, did in the past.
  • No way! I refuse to become the scapegoat!
  • “Mommy, don't be so harsh to him. I'm sure Grandpa's going to be so mad if he decides to run away again.” Suddenly, the little girl tugged at the hem of Natalie's sleeve.
  • Natalie furrowed her brows slightly upon hearing the little girl's words.
