- I swallowed hard, my gaze locked on the man before me tall, dark-haired, and smeared in blood. His bare, sculpted chest was slick with crimson, but I knew instinctively it wasn’t his. Diamante. That blood had to be hers. A sick twist clenched my gut, and bile threatened to rise. Had Ivano killed her? The thought made tears sting the corners of my eyes.
- “What did you do to Diamante?” I hissed, shifting my stance, ready to fight.
- He scratched at the stubble lining his jaw and let out a low, mocking chuckle. “I had to put her down… into a deep sleep. Perhaps one she’ll never wake from.”
