- The elevator doors opened to the executive floor, and Janet stepped out first. I followed, trying not to gawk at the space that would be my new workplace. Glass and steel everywhere, original artwork on the walls that probably cost more than I'd make in a year, and floor-to-ceiling windows that showed off Seattle like the city was putting on a show just for us. The afternoon sun streamed in, making everything gleam like it was touched by gold.
- My desk - my actual desk - sat in front of massive double glass doors that had to lead to Abel's office. It was a sleek modern thing with multiple monitors and what looked like a state-of-the-art phone system. The chair behind it probably cost more than my rent.
