Chapter 9

  • Chapter 9
  • Ciara watched Orion storm out of the dining room and sighed in relief. Why did he have to be so scary?"Why are you so afraid of him?" She heard him ask beside her and she turned to face him.
  • "He is the Alpha." she simply responded not wanting to continue the conversation.
  • "But he is your mate," Bryan said, and the fork she had been holding dropped from her hand.
  • "What are you talking about?" Bryan's eyes widened as he realized Ciara still didn't know that Orion was her mate because she didn't have her wolf yet.
  • "I meant he is your Alpha," he corrected himself and she watched him for a while as if checking to see if he was lying. Satisfied with what she saw, she looked back at her food and decided to focus on finishing breakfast as quickly as possible.
  • She didn't want to be anywhere near any of these men at this point, they spelled trouble. She was curious to know what kind of relationship he and Orion shared but she wouldn't dare ask him. It would be forward of her. "Alpha Bryan,"
  • Ciara looked up as Beta James walked into the dining room and bowed in greeting. Alpha Bryan?
  • So he was an Alpha?
  • "James." Bryan pushed his empty plate away and got up, walking towards James. Ciara tuned them both out not wanting to be rude by eavesdropping on their conversation."See you later, Ciara." Bryan waved at her but Ciara avoided eye contact with him. She heard him chuckle at her action. Beta James continued talking as their footsteps grew distant.
  • When she heard the door close behind them, she released the breath she had been holding and leaned back in her seat, thankful for the chance to finally be alone. Now she could enjoy her breakfast in peace.
  • After breakfast which she didn't end up enjoying as much as she would have liked, she decided to head to her room briefly before taking a tour of the house and seeing what she could do. Back at the Heartfield estate, she had always enjoyed dining with her grandfather and his wife even though Madam Grace always had something bad to say. She realized today after Bryan had walked out with James that the show would pick that overeating alone any day.
  • She lay down on her bed as thoughts of Bryan flooded her mind. He was one attractive man just like Orion except Orion was scarier. She scoffed, her cheeks flushing as she realized what she was doing. How could she be comparing them like that as if they were brothers? And even if they were, no two children were the same, even twins.
  • She opened her eyes and slid off her bed, walking towards her walk-in closet. Peeking her head out of the window, she froze when she spotted Bryan talking to Lucas and James. The thought of what Lucas could be saying about her had her running out of her room in a flash without a second thought. Lucas was the first one of the group to notice her and he tensed up as soon as he spotted her, alerting the others. "Ciara, you look pale," Bryan pointed out, frowning as he walked up to her and flinched when he tried to touch her face and his face hardened.
  • "What's wrong? Why do you look like you have seen a ghost?"
  • Ciara shook her head, eyeing Lucas who was staring at his shoes. "I was just thinking of going to the field to get some air."
  • It was a lie but Bryan didn't have to know that. He eyed her for a few minutes and when it seemed as if he was about to ask her more questions, Ciara took off running and didn't stop until she got to the field. She found it empty and slowly walked towards the benches and flopped down on one.
  • She hoped she hadn't given Bryan a reason to be suspicious earlier. She had been so scared and anxious of what Lucas could have been saying so she had barged in on them without thinking.
  • What if... She closed her eyes and tried to focus on her breathing. It was either that or losing her mind.
  • Deep breath.......3....2......."Ciara,"
  • She groaned at the interruption and opened her eyes preparing to tell the intruder off. She froze when she realized who was standing there, watching her. "What do you want Lucas?" she asked feeling exhausted all of a sudden.
  • "Don't hate me," he begged and Ciara scoffed.
  • Was he being serious right now?
  • She crossed her hands in front of her chest and glared at him. "I don't know who you think you are to come here and say this after everything you did."
  • He sighed and for a moment, Ciara thought she saw a glimpse of the man she fell in love with, the first friend she ever made when she arrived at the Silver Moon pack.
  • "I...I didn't.." He could even string his words together.
  • She shook her head. "I never want to speak to you again," She told him, ignoring the sudden pain in her chest. "I don't want you randomly showing up to talk to me. I don't want to see you and I can't forgive you for everything you did."Ciara sniffed and wiped her face with the back of her hand as she backed him. "You should go, I'd like to be alone now."
  • "Ciara I..." He tried to speak but she wasn't having it. The last thing she wanted was to break down in front of him and she was so close to doing it. She could feel the tears at the back of her eyes."Leave, "Ciara wasn't sure what finally made him leave but as soon as she heard his retreating footsteps, she slumped back on the benches and cried her heart out.
  • It wasn't her fault that she was an Omega. Just like everyone she wished she had the perfect life but sadly all the goddess had blessed her with was nothing but betrayal from her ex-boyfriend/ best friend, a soon-to-be husband who desired another woman and misery from not getting her wolf at her age."
  • Ciara," she heard from behind her and groaned wiping her face furiously.
  • "Can you just go away please?" she screamed, rising to her feet to give Lucas a piece of her mind but the words died on her lips when she realized it wasn't Lucas.
  • "Bry...Alpha Bryan."
  • Shit!
