Chapter 13 Deliver A Banner

  • The entire living room fell into a dead silence at Christopher's words.
  • No one imagined the veteran could be so cunning.
  • Even Fabian was surprised by the fact that Christopher had actually taken out a notarized document. F*ck, I am screwed!
  • When Christopher received the deed the other day, he worried Fabian would change his mind. So he went to a notary in the morning to have the document notarized.
  • Fabian's hand trembled as he held the copy of the notarized deed. He knew what a notarized document meant, and his heart hurt at the implications. He never imagined he would fall into Christopher's trap.
  • Meanwhile, Frank was perplexed after the emotional roller coaster ride. By his side, Julianna was ecstatic. She never pictured they could overcome this obstacle, even in her wildest dream.
  • “Julianna, you help your dad. Let's go!” Christopher didn't want to waste his time bantering with Fabian any longer.
  • Julianna quickly helped Frank to leave at Christopher's instruction.
  • Seeing the turn of events, Fabio panicked. “Dad, we can't let them leave. If they leave, that land will be gone.”
  • Fabio instantly turned to the other younger Murrays. “Shut the living room door. Don't even think about leaving without surrendering the deed to us!” he hissed at Christopher.
  • “You're planning to stop me with just a few of you, Fabio?”
  • Christopher stared at Fabio and the younger Murrays with a cold assessing gaze.
  • Christopher was the strongest person alive. During his years in the field, numerous brutal criminals died at his hands. Unleashing a wave of murderous aura from him was enough to scare the Murrays.
  • The Murrays blocking the door all turned to Fabian for further instructions. After all, their bodies were weak from splurging on alcohol and women daily. When faced with a strong man, who had lived on the edge of life and death, they immediately cowered.
  • Fabian's expression darkened. The cost of the land at Dragon Valley is too valuable. I'm unsure of the current pricing, but by a conservative estimate, it'll be at least five million. If I negotiate with Centurion Corporation, I might even get to sell it at eight million!
  • I can't swallow this regret of just giving it out for free. As long as I hold onto Christopher, I'll find a way to get the original notarized document. I won't have to worry about Christopher going to a notary after that. It'll be pointless by then.
  • “It's not that we're stopping you, but it's illegal to notarize a land deed you stole. Trust me when I say I'll find someone to deal with you.”
  • Fabian already made up his mind. Fabio's uncle has many acquaintances in the area, so Frank is nothing once I get Christopher under my control. So what if he is a veteran, can he win against several men? All it takes is one command from me, and Frank will obediently hand me the deed on a silver platter.
  • Hearing Fabian twisting his words, Christopher laughed. “We'll play your game since you say so.”
  • “Fine. Fabio, call your uncle and have him bring some men here to catch a thief.” Fabian had decided to be ruthless. It's eight million worth of assets. I can't just let it slip out of my grasp.
  • Frank cowered into submission at Fabian's threat and mumbled, “We're doomed. Doomed!”
  • If Fabio's uncle really brings his men here, with Fabian's connections, he will definitely take his brother-in-law's side. Christopher might implicate me.
  • “Frank, I'll let this matter slide if you give me the original land deed and the notarized document. I won't make things difficult for you. Or else, you'll be digging your own grave,” Fabian threatened in a cold voice.
  • “Uncle Fabian, you're too cruel!” Julianna could guess Fabian's intention. He would surely take the risk for a piece of land that is so valuable.
  • “Cruel? That land should've been ours!” Fabian declared.
  • “Are you really doing this?” Christopher asked.
  • “I hope you can be this confident when my men arrive later,” Fabian sniggered.
  • “Fine. We'll wait and see.” Christopher chuckled as he accepted Fabian's challenge.
  • I had never thought of using my position to oppress Fabian and wasn't planning on making a move at him. After all, he was Old Mr. Murray's eldest son. Yet, he insisted on playing this game. I'm already flying under the radar, yet these people still dare to challenge me. I see he doesn't value his life!
  • “F**k! why are you so arrogant? I'm calling my uncle now.” Fabio didn't hesitate to call his uncle.
  • Fabio's uncle, Stephen Lathwell, immediately complied when he got Fabio's call. “We'll be there immediately.”
  • Ten minutes after the call ended, a noise came from outside the house. During that ten minutes, Fabian had communicated his plan via text to Stephen.
  • Stephen did not hesitate as he barged into the living room with six burly men trailing after him. Seeing his uncle had arrived, Fabio called excitedly, “Uncle Stephen!”
  • Fabian released a relieved sigh. With Stephen here, the ending has been determined.
  • Stephen knew the problems within the Murrays, so he leveled his gaze at Christopher the minute he walked in.
  • “So you're the thief who stole from my nephew. Do you have a death wish?”
  • The burly men behind him eyed Christopher too.
  • Frank almost staggered to the ground from fear.
  • Christopher sneered. “You'd better think things through. There is something that you can't get involved with.”
  • “F**k you! You're just a veteran. What is there worth showing off? Do you still think you're in the army? Let me tell you the truth this is my turf. You have committed a crime on my turf and continued acting like a conceited b**tard. Do you think I won't dare to kill you?”
  • Stephen's temper spiked after seeing Christopher's cocky attitude. He was the boss in that area and no one had ever dared to disrespect him. How dare he still act all smug when he's all alone? I see he doesn't value his life. Furthermore, Fabian has told me the whole situation. Once he gets the deed, I'll get a slice of the cake too.
  • “Mr. Lathwell, there's a misunderstanding. Fabio was the one who gave it to us,” Julianna corrected urgently.
  • “A misunderstanding? If you hand over the documents, then I'll believe this is all a misunderstanding,” Stephen said coldly.
  • Christopher turned to Julianna. “It's fine. They can't do anything to me.”
  • Christopher shifted his gaze to Stephen. “I hope you can be this calm later.”
  • Stephen felt cold sweat dotted his forehead under Christopher's stern gaze. Even though he was a boss in the area, he was only a petty bully compared to the average citizen. If he encountered any gangsters, he would go out of his way to avoid them if he encountered them.
  • Christopher's gaze is so intense. It's scarier than the gaze of the most vicious man I have ever met.
  • Despite the pressure he felt, Stephen knew he wouldn't have any piece of the eight million worth of land if he walked out of the house at that moment. So he clenched his teeth and said, “You still dared to threaten me at a time like this. Take him out of here. I want to see how tough he is.”
  • Christopher didn't resist and let Stephen's men drag him out of the house. After all, it was rather uncomfortable to fight inside the house. The rest of the Murrays filed out into the front yard.
  • I want to see how many heads Stephen has for him to dare to mess with me.
  • The others were shocked by the scene in front of them when they reached the front door.
  • They saw three Jeeps and a big truck driving through the gate of the Murray residence.
  • Soon after, men in camouflage suits began to get out of the truck. They got into three lines and stood at attention. After swiftly smoothening out their uniform, they stood tall with puffed-up chests.
  • Meanwhile, a few generals got out of the Jeeps. They marched toward Christopher and paused in front of him with a respectful look.
  • The Murrays were shocked by the turn of events, clueless about what was happening. Why are there so many soldiers at the gate?
  • Panic flood Fabian's chest. Are they here because of Christopher? No way! Christopher is nothing more than a common soldier, so how can there be such a large group of soldiers coming for him?
  • Stephen panicked and immediately saluted at the generals. “I'm Stephen Lathwell. May I know what happened at the Murray residence for respected generals like you to grace our home?” he asked with a fawning smile.
  • “Rest assured. We're only here to deliver a banner,” the general in the lead answered with a smile.
  • “Haha! Having you guys deliver a banner to the Murrays is such a proud feat for us,” Fabio exclaimed as he was all excited.
  • “Someone bring the banner!” the general demanded instantly.
  • Not long after, a few soldiers hurriedly got into the truck and took out a large banner with the writing: Role Model For The People, Backbone Of The Nation!
