Sneaking out of Azrael with queen Lyarra's help Catherine travelled with a few Azraelian soldiers to Nival to meet her brother, king Alfred. The king who was torn between which side to choose during the war because of his sister immediately decided to stay loyal to the merged kingdom after seeing his sister. He readied his army to join that of the remaining merged kingdom. The preparation for war was heated on both sides.
Though with Lia successfully freeing the women, children and older men who couldn't fight from the mine with the wizard's help there was nothing stopping Carl from attacking Morana.
