• Mark pouted a little as she left, but then glanced down into his lap and then up at Duncan, grinning as he did so. Duncan caught a movement from him then, and saw his hand flash up briefly, revealing a little black plastic device. Mark's fingers moved slightly as he lowered the object back down into his lap.
• Rachel and Becky both leaned forward at the same time then, glancing at Mark, who smiled widely.
• Duncan shook his head, unable to grasp what was happening.
