Chapter 7 Persistent

  • Three pairs of eyes faced-off with each other—Lewis did not move, and neither did the two black monsters. Approximately five minutes later, the two black monsters slowly retreated. However, he was certain that they were not far off; they were merely hiding nearby and waiting to deal a lethal attack on Suzy and him when the opportunity came.
  • “Phew…” Lewis let out a long breath of air. Thank goodness; I’m no longer the same person as I was when I first arrived on this island nine days ago! If these four monsters had surrounded and attacked me nine days ago, I would have had zero odds of winning! But, now…
  • After a short break, he dragged the two black monsters, one in each hand, outside. He wanted to skin these monsters while the weather was good, then cure the meat for easier storage. With that, he and Suzy would no longer need to worry about food rations in the coming days.
  • While Lewis was butchering the black monsters not far off from the cave entrance, Suzy staggered out of the cave unsteadily.
  • “Lewis, what are you doing? The cave is full of blood; how will we stay—ugh…” Suzy asked discontentedly, shaking her head as she walked out of the cave. When she saw him skinning the monsters, she was taken aback. Then, she suspiciously asked, “Lewis, these monsters… How…? Did something happen just now?”
  • “Do you have no memory of what happened before?” he smilingly asked.
  • “What happened?” She knitted her brows together and slowly recalled the events from before. First, I found some sort of pink-colored heart-shaped fruits. I ate one and thought it tasted quite nice. Thus, I brought the rest back with me to share with Lewis. But… after I returned, I was consumed with the urge to consummate with a guy! So, I threw myself at Lewis and even gave him a blowjob… At that thought, she glanced over at his manhood.
  • “While you were giving me a blowjob, these monsters ambushed us. I killed two of them, but the other two are lurking nearby. The moment we let down our guard will be the moment they launch their attack on us,” he explained while frowning.
  • “Lewis, don’t you dare talk about it!” she yelled at him with a blushing expression.
  • “That’s enough. I don’t have the time to make idle talk with you. Next time, don’t randomly put things in your mouth! Those fruits you ate were problematic. It’s like an aphrodisiac—once you eat one, you will lose control of yourself!” He continued butchering the black monsters while talking.
  • “Hmph!” she snorted coldly, glaring at him discontentedly.
  • “Still, your skills could use some improvement!”
  • Lewis’ words that came out of the blue instantly made Suzy boiling mad.
  • “Lewis, you lecher! I’m going to kill you!” Thus, she picked up a stick from the ground and prepared to hit him with it.
  • Rustle… Rustle… Just as she picked up the wooden stick from the ground, she heard a rustling sound. Thus, she looked in the direction where the sound came from.
  • “Stop looking! It’s the two remaining monsters. As long as they spot an opening, they will not hesitate to attack us!” he said indifferently.
  • “Huh? T-Then, what do we do?” she asked awkwardly. As for what she wanted to do to Lewis just now, she had completely forgotten about it.
  • “What do we do? If we don’t kill those two monsters, we will be killed by them sooner or later! After all, there’s no way for us to keep our guard up all the time! As soon as we relax our guard, they won’t let us escape!” he said coldly.
  • “T-Then let’s kill them!” she said.
  • “Can you catch up to those two monsters?” he asked again.
  • “I… Hmph!” Holding the wooden stick in her hands, she walked over to him and watched him butcher the two monsters.
  • As evening rolled around, Lewis finished skinning the two monsters and set up a frame. On the frame, he hung pieces of cut meat from it. Meanwhile, the remaining two black monsters lurked in the distance and watched as Lewis roasted their companions on the frame. That night, they did not try to launch a sneak attack on Lewis and Suzy, but they remained close by.
  • In the next three days, Lewis and Suzy were ambushed once. However, Lewis was left speechless by the two monsters’ actions. As soon as their attack failed, they retreated immediately without giving more trouble to him.
  • In a blink of an eye, Lewis and Suzy had spent half a month on the island. As for the two monsters, they continued to lurk around and attack at any chance they got. As the days passed, the exhaustion was apparent on both Lewis’ and Suzy’s faces. Even while walking, they looked as if they were about to fall asleep.
  • Then, at noon that day, the sun in the sky was as warm and bright as usual. This made the already exhausted duo feel even more sleepy. While foraging around for food, they sat down beneath a tree to rest. However, they leaned against the tree and promptly fell asleep not long after they sat down.
  • On the other hand, the two black monsters slowly stepped out from deep within the forest. Their footsteps were light as they approached the duo.
  • One step… two steps… The two black monsters were light-footed; their steps made no sound against the ground. Stopping before Lewis, one of the monsters bared its sharp and shiny fangs. Then, it slowly moved toward his neck.
  • At that moment, Lewis’ right hand moved. His movements instantly made the black monster leap backward in alarm. It watched as Lewis waved his hand about in irritation, then rolled over and continued breathing steadily.
  • The black monster tilted its head to the side, seeming to consider something. After that, it slowly approached Lewis again. Revealing its fangs, it slowly moved toward his neck. This time around, Lewis was motionless. However, the black monster leaped backward again and slowly walked around him, circling him several times. All this while, Lewis continued to remain motionless.
  • Thus, the black monster no longer hesitated as it speedily rushed toward Lewis’ neck. Its eyes were overflowing with the bloodthirsty excitement of the hunt. It looked like Lewis would die this time! The monster was no more than a foot away from Lewis when his head moved suddenly. Then, he smiled slightly as he glanced over at the black monster rushing toward him; a dagger appeared in his hand suddenly.
  • Slash! With a soft sound, the dagger sank into the black monster’s neck. The moment the dagger slid into the black monster’s neck, Lewis rolled over and stood up, pressing the black monster against the ground. Meanwhile, the remaining monster turned around to flee when it saw him rolling over and standing up. However, he had no intention of letting it escape. He quickly pulled the dagger in his right hand out from the first monster and threw it toward the fleeing monster.
