Chapter 27 A Little Problem

• The sun was high in the sky when Lily finally opened her eyes. Soft afternoon light spilt into the room, illuminating the cosy warmth of Giovanni’s bedroom. She reached instinctively across the bed, but her fingers met cool sheets where his warmth should’ve been. Giovanni wasn’t there.
• A faint feeling of emptiness tugged at her. With a sigh, she pushed back the covers and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, feeling a chill rush over her as she stood. She wrapped herself in a robe, savouring the soft, familiar comfort. As she stepped into the bathroom, she caught a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror.
• Her eyes widened as she noticed the marks—faint but unmistakable signs left on her skin like hidden tattoos. His touch was imprinted on her, each mark feeling both thrilling and strange, like he had laid claim to her in ways she couldn’t ignore.
