Chapter 50

• Resting with her back against the tree, Alec closed her eyes. If she saw another tree after this, it had better be in a very populated park. A buzzing beside her head had her open her eyes and swat at a bee and wave her hand around to discourage it from getting any closer. Turning, she watched Ian wander through the overgrowth of weeds and grass, he was grinning.
• She waited until he was close enough, so she wouldn’t have to exert much energy speaking loud. “Tell me that smile means there’s a motel and shower hiding in the grass somewhere.”
• Still grinning, he squatted down beside her. “Not that I found.” He opened his shirt and several apples fell on the ground. “But I found a snack.”
