Chapter 11 Deceptive Tranquility

  • The feeling of helplessness and loneliness enveloped me instantly when I realized I needed some attention after that nightmare, and I didn't receive it. As a result, I spent the entire morning locked in the hotel room, watching random series, while my husband sorted out his affairs somewhere in Santorini.
  • After a room service lunch, since I was forbidden to go out alone, I decided to set the television aside and sit on the balcony, losing myself in the vastness of the Aegean Sea. Memories of our family beach outings, or at least a part of them, as my father and Alessio rarely joined us, came to mind.
  • I remember a day at the beach, when I was only nine years old, a few months before being sent to boarding school. My mother and I were together, enjoying the simplicity and normality of those hours.
