- His mouth is still on mine when the backs of my knees hit the mattress.
- The bed is soft under us, expensive and silent, the sheets cool against overheated skin. Victor comes down with me, one hand braced beside my shoulder, the other firm at my waist as if letting go would cost him something he has already paid too much to hide. Beyond the glass, the city burns in blurred gold and white, washed thin by rain. Inside the room there is only his breathing, the loosened line of his shirt, the taste of him still warm on my mouth.
