Chapter 14 The Guest List
- Alexander keeps the pen in his hand through the red light.
- He does not turn it over dramatically. He does not ask another question right away. He only studies it in the wash of dashboard light, his thumb resting lightly against the dark barrel as rain ticks against the roof above us.
- Then the signal changes. He looks back at the road, eases the car forward, and says, “Did he tell you what it was?”
