Chapter 7 I'll Stay

  • Twaine's Point of View :
  • I awoke to a series of knocks on the door here in my bedroom. It was frustrating for me to get up and open up to whoever was treacherous disturbing my deep sleep.
  • "Who are you—" I couldn't continue speaking when Kyle's smiling face appeared on me.
  • "Good morning my wife!" he greeted me with a smile.
  • "Why are you here?" I asked him emotionless.
  • "Ouch!" He pretended to have pain in his chest. He held on there as he looked at me as if he was offended by what I said.
  • "Don't you want to see me? I even cooked your favorite pancake and then that's how you'll open it to your handsome husband?" He said like a child. Wait, when did a serious Kyle Mendez learn to pout? Just now!
  • "Didn't I told you to leave?" I still have no emotion. I was about to close the door of my room but he blocked his two arms there.
  • "I'm sorry, my wife. I love you!"
  • Damn this heart, why is it so fast to explode with the simple I love you of a Kyle Mendez? Argh!
  • "Stop that nonsense joke, Kyle!" I said angrily to him.
  • "Sorry." He just said once back.
  • "Come down, I'll be right next," I told him so he started to step away from the door of my room. After he left I slowly closed the door then I went back to lying down.
  • I'm bothered. Kyle and I are doing the wrong thing. This is wrong.
  • Yes, we're married but only on paper, and we both know that our marriage has a limit.
  • But why do I still feel such reactions? First, when I found out that Kyle and Roxanne are already in a relationship.
  • Secondly, Kyle saying 'I love you to me.
  • I was so affected by what was happening that I shouldn’t have cared.
  • I don't know why I still feel this way even though in a few months we will be separated. I Can not understand myself. I don’t know but I’m hurting for reasons I don’t know. Maybe Ana is right, that I already love Kyle? Do I love him?
  • "Ah! What's wrong with you Twaine? Aren't you the one who said you wouldn't like that man? God! What's happening to me?" I banged my head on the bed three times. I'm going crazy. Since I couldn't go back to sleep, I got up and went to the bathroom.
  • After doing my morning rituals I changed my nightgown, shirt, and denim shorts I was wearing before I went downstairs.
  • When I got down, I found Kyle reading the newspaper while sipping coffee.
  • 'He looks like a Dad in his position. Tsk!'
  • "Aren't you going to school?" He asked me.
  • "No, I don't have a class this morning, this afternoon instead," I answered.
  • I was about to get some rice when Kyle suddenly took the spoon in my hand and he put the rice on my plate. He also put a piece of hotdog on my plate and a fried egg. He also took a pancake and put it on a saucer. I was also surprised when I saw my cup that had already milk in it.
  • "Eat now, my wife." He said smiling.
  • "You don't have to do these. I might get used to it." I said seriously without looking at him.
  • "As your husband, I must take care of you and train you in this way." He said smiling even bigger.
  • 'What's up and he's showing his sweetest smile?'
  • "But it's only a few months and you're leaving me. We're going to split up." I said. I don’t know but I get sad every time I remember that we are about to break up in a few months.
  • "That won't happen Twaine, I won't leave you. We won't separate." I felt excited because of what he said. But that joy soon faded when I remembered Roxanne.
  • "But you have a girlfriend, don't you?" He paused for a moment.
  • "About that, I'll fix it later. After I fix Roxanne and me we'll be back to normal." I just nodded and started my breakfast.
  • "Twaine," Kyle calls my attention to stop me.
  • "Yes?"
  • "Sorry, sorry for everything." I just smiled at him and didn't speak anymore.
  • "I'm leaving after we eat. I'll talk to Roxanne." He said.
  • "Okay, you should take care." I reminded him.
  • "Thank you." He said with a smile.
  • "Happy 3rd wedding anniversary!" I almost choked when Kyle said that.
  • "A-are you okay?" He asked worriedly. At once he handed me a glass of water.
  • "What's that Kyle, you surprised!" I said angrily to him after I drank the water.
  • "S-sorry. Are you surprised?" He asked with a bright smile on his face.
  • "Isn't it obvious?." Who wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly became like that?
  • In the three years, we have been together now he just greeted me like that. Whereas before, even on my birthday, he couldn't greet me. Does he love me too? Or maybe I just really assume?
  • "Twaine, this is serious. I want us to start again."
  • "I'm confused Kyle, I don't understand what you want to convey?" I asked him directly.
  • "Twaine, I love you. Yes, I said before that I would never like or love a child like you. But suddenly the wind changed, I just woke up that I love you."
  • Again, the beating of my heart goes abnormal.
  • "Is it true?"
  • "Ouch!" I screamed in pain as I bit one of my fingers. It’s true.
  • "Tell me Twaine, do you feel the same way?" I was so nervous when Kyle asked me.
  • I felt myself.
  • 'Yeah, I feel the same, Kyle.'
  • I was about to answer that he must have asked when suddenly someone rang the doorbell so I was not able to open my mouth to speak.
  • Kyle looked at whoever rang the doorbell. A few minutes passed and he still wasn't coming back so I got up to take a peek at him.
  • But I suddenly regretted what I had done. I just saw Roxanne and him—kissing. They're kissing in front of me.
  • I went back to the dining room table as if I hadn't seen anything but my heart just wouldn't be fooled so I just realized that I was already crying.
  • I resumed my breakfast, trying to get out of my mind what I had seen before but it kept coming out of my imagination.
  • "I'm sorry I took so long." I just looked at him and turned my attention back to my food.
  • "Who's that?" I asked him as if I didn't know who's the visitor.
  • "That's nothing." He lied.
  • "Okay," I said coldly.
  • "I love you." He said and it makes me more annoyed, I turned my gaze to him.
  • "I love you, your face!" I growl at him.
  • "Is there a problem?"
  • "Nothing." I still said coldly.
  • He just didn't speak. After I ate, I immediately left the table. He was still saying something but I ignored it. He's a liar!
