Chapter 2 She'll Be Doomed if He Finds Out
- Although the parking lot was dim that night, Freya remembered that man's face and sharp eyes vividly due to fear and pain.
- When she fled from Bosneau, she swore that once she grew strong, she would hold her father accountable and bring the man who raped her to justice!
- But now, she dared not to do that. It was more important to protect herself.
- "You're Ms. Freya Lambert, right?"
- Henry stared at Freya sharply. His tone sounded cold and impatient.
- "Have a seat. I only give you three minutes to talk."
- "O-okay."
- Freya stammered and immediately returned to her senses. In a panic, she avoided making eye contact with him.
- She was worried he'd recognise her.
- She'd seen this man on the news. He was Henry Jackman, the third scion of the Jackmans.
- In Bosneau, he was the only person who could evoke terror in people.
- It was stated that it was better to provoke Hades rather than Henry.
- She had heard about Henry's violent and unpredictable nature four years ago. He always acted decisively and had a terrifying reputation.
- Freya subconsciously recalled the night when her father recognised the Jackmans' car and fled in panic, as well as the two men who were scared to the point of peeing and begging for mercy just now.
- Even if she knew Henry was the one who had raped her years ago, she could only lower her head and accept the loss.
- She was more worried he would recognise her, regard her as a blemish on his life, and secretly get rid of her.
- No, I can't let him recognise me! I need to protect Winston and Jasmine!
- "D-do you like children?" Freya asked absentmindedly.
- "It depends on whose children. If they're mine, I must like them. Do you have children?"
- "Ah ... I-I don't," Freya immediately denied it. She wasn't even sure why she asked that. Perhaps she was worried that he would take her twins away.
- Throughout the conversation, she was distracted and had no idea what they were talking about.
- After three minutes, Freya heard Henry's deep voice again, "Alright, if you need anything, you can contact my assistant. Come in three days to start your job."
- Freya's heart skipped a beat as she subconsciously looked at him. Isn't this a blind date? What job was he talking about?
- At that point, she met Henry's sharp and deep gaze, which appeared cold as if trying to pull her into an endless abyss.
- "Any questions?"
- She became flustered, stuttering, "N-no ... "
- He had already withdrawn his gaze as if it was only a casual question. Then, he stood up and coldly strode towards the door.
- Leo Howard, the assistant, handed her a business card and followed Henry out. But when he passed by Freya, he subconsciously glanced at her.
- She was the first woman that Henry had taken the initiative to talk to.
- Plus, the way he looked at her was special.
- Freya, who walked out of the restaurant, felt desperate and disoriented as she walked on the street. She was terribly upset.
- She didn't expect she had actually had a relationship with a man like Henry and even gave birth to his children.
- She had no idea what would happen if he found out about the twins. Would he get rid of them in a fit of rage, or would he snatch them away from her?
- No matter what the outcome was, she couldn't bear it.
- I must keep this secret well!
- However, Henry's reaction suggested that he didn't recognise her. Four years ago, he seemed to have been drugged and wasn't sober, so he might not remember her appearance.
- She, the victim, appeared to be more guilty as if she was the one at fault.
- When Freya returned home, Jasmine rushed over and hugged her leg, happily saying, "Welcome back, Mommy! How is our new daddy? Is he handsome? Do you like him?"
- Jasmine wore a creamy yellow outfit, which made her skin appear fairer. Her large, bright eyes looked beautiful and vibrant.
- "Mommy, I can tell you failed again."
- Winston, who was in the same outfit as Jasmine, sat coldly on the side, typing on his computer. He didn't even glance at her but acted as if he knew what she had encountered.
- In fact, he had already seen her blind date at home through the restaurant's surveillance.
- Freya felt slightly embarrassed and didn't respond to Winston. Instead, she focused on the twins' outstanding appearance. They both had tall noses, thin lips, and bright eyes. She couldn't help but think it was so unfair. Gosh, how can my twins look so much like Henry?
- Especially Winston. His cold and indifferent aura was strikingly similar to Henry's!
- There was no doubt that Henry was their father. She wondered if she would be doomed if he found out about the twins.
