Chapter 3 That Guy Is Too Ugly

• "Mommy!"
• Jasmine impatiently nudged Freya's leg to regain her attention. "How did the date go? Winston said you failed!"
• "I'm here!" Freya snapped back, squatting to scoop Jasmine up and heading towards the living room. "That guy is too ugly. He's not suitable to be your daddy. I'll find someone much more handsome another day."
• "Don't lie, Mommy. Are you scared?"
• "Winston, did you eavesdrop again?" Freya asked, taking Winston's iPad away as she approached.
• "Don't worry, Mommy. Jasmine and I will support you. If you don't like him, neither do we," he assured.
• His words touched Freya. She gently placed Jasmine down, embraced both her children, and said softly, "Sorry, babies, I know it."
• Winston and Jasmine kissed Freya's cheek in response.
• "Winston and I will always protect you. Don't be sad, Mommy."
• "Yes, my babies love me the most!"
• During lunch, Freya was still fretted about finding a job. However, her worries were soon interrupted by a call from Motionbridge Corporation, offering her a job as a secretary.
• She was astonished after hearing the introduction from the HR manager. "Are you sure it's a secretary job at Motionbridge Corporation?"
• She couldn't recall applying for this position.
• "Yes," the HR manager verified over the phone, detailing the job requirements and salary.
• Freya was hesitant at first upon hearing the job requirements because they didn't correspond with her skills.
• But the attractive salary and benefits convinced her to accept the offer.
• She didn't want to work in that devil's company. For now, she would settle into a new job and reject them when they came to her.
• She assumed she had made an intelligent option.
• Stabilising her mood, Freya headed to report to her new job the following day.
• However, upon arriving at the secretariat, Zoe Fisher, the chief secretary, summoned her outside and warned her sternly, "Motionbridge won't tolerate slackers! I don't care how you got in here. Once you're in the secretariat, I only pay attention to your capabilities! If you don't pass your three-month probation period, I'll still dismiss you!"
• Although taken aback by the warning, Freya still nodded. "Got it!"
• Back in the office, she took time to get acquainted with her work process.
• At three o'clock in the afternoon, Zoe solemnly appeared at the office door. "Get ready! Mr. Jackman is coming for an inspection!"
• When the female secretaries heard that, they nervously stood up.
• Freya, who was a bit slow to catch on, also stood up.
• Mr. Jackman? Which Mr. Jackman?
• Isn't this company owned by Mr. Hodgson?
• As she pondered, she heard approaching footsteps and flattering voices outside the door.
• Soon, the crowd welcomed Henry, who emanated a cold and powerful aura.
• He was in a black suit that highlighted his long and strong legs. His deep eyes exuded danger, and he lightly pursed his mouth. His every move conveyed authority.
• When he arrived, the atmosphere grew tense.
• Freya stared at him in disbelief. What terrible luck!
• Before she came, she had determined that Motionbridge Corporation wasn't affiliated with the Jackmans. Though office gossip hinted at the company acquisition, she was preoccupied with her duties and hadn't paid much heed.
• It appeared that she was extremely unlucky!
• Why did Henry acquire the company right after she arrived? Was it a coincidence?
• Freya felt desperate. Hurriedly, she lowered her head, hoping not to attract Henry's notice.
• "Mr. Jackman, these are the 17 employees of our secretariat ... "
• Zoe was introducing the secretariat structure to Henry when she noticed his sharp gaze land on Freya.
• She smartly paused and introduced, "She's the new intern secretary, Fre ... "
• Before Zoe could complete her sentence, Henry had already withdrawn his cold gaze and left.
• She promptly followed suit.
• Once Henry was gone, the office erupted into whispers.
• "Oh my gosh! That's the legendary cold and ruthless Henry Jackman! He's as terrifying as they say!"
• "That's right! When he entered, I didn't even dare to breathe too loudly. I had goosebumps!"
• Suddenly, a young girl, who was swooning over Henry, spoke up shyly, "Am I the only one who thinks Mr. Jackman is cool, handsome, and charming?"
• When she mentioned that, the atmosphere instantly shifted.
• The others, who had just been scared, agreed, "We think the same! It's said that many socialites hope to marry Mr. Jackman, but he hasn't shown interest in any of them. He's been single and doesn't even have a rumoured girlfriend!"
• "That explains why he looks so cold, distant, and self-restraint. He keeps unspotted from the world!"
• As the secretaries chattered excitedly, Freya was completely distracted. She waited for Zoe's return and promptly followed her into the office.
• "What? You want to resign?" Zoe sat in her seat, appearing annoyed. "Is it because I scolded you this morning that you decided to leave?"
