Chapter 11 When The Snow Fell

  • For the first time in nearly two months, the clouds over Talawan broke.
  • The rain that had blanketed the city in a relentless grey drizzle had finally ended. It left behind slick pavement, swollen streams, and mud-caked gutters, but the sun—soft and pale—managed to peek through, casting fragile light across rooftops. The air, however, remained heavy and biting. Even at midday, the temperature sat below 45°F, unusual and disorienting for a place that had known nothing but tropical humidity.
  • Lucy stood by her window, watching the city breathe again.
