Chapter 6 The Seat Is Reserved for The Schulzes

  • Rita's wearied howls rang faintly outside the door. Reilly casually picked at her ear, paying Rita no attention as she surveyed the room. The room's interior and walls were decorated in pastel pink, while the floor was covered with a soft wool carpet. It was evident that the Schulze family treated Rita well.
  • Reilly's gaze briefly swept through the room before she walked straight to the computer desk. She sat on the pink gaming chair and looked disdainfully at the dainty computer setup. She swiftly dismantled the decorations and threw them aside.
  • She turned on the computer and rapidly typed on the keyboard with her slender, fair fingers. Faint scars were seen on her knuckles, and she had thick calluses on her fingertips. Her hands were like a perfect ceramic vase with minor cracks. It was flawed, but it was still beautiful.
  • A doctor's hands were their lifeline. These scars were because of Ford! Upon thinking of that man, intense hatred flashed in Reilly's eyes. If it weren't for Ford instructing people to take 'special care' of her, she wouldn't have met her mentor and would have been an entirely different person. Speaking of which, she had to thank him!
  • As a dark webpage loaded on the computer screen, the chat room in the bottom left corner of the page suddenly became lively as she logged into her account! 'Oh my god, am I seeing things?! Is Zilch online? Ah, my role model has finally returned after five years!'
  • 'I can't believe it! Zilch! I'm here!'
  • This was the country's largest and most hidden dark web forum where the most skilled hackers gathered. Everyone congregated here to discuss technical issues and took on jobs to earn a quick buck.
  • Six years ago, Reilly had just married into the Bannister family. She was often left alone in the massive villa because Ford rarely came home. She already knew she wasn't the Lundberg family's biological daughter then. She wanted to find her birth parents' whereabouts, so she learned hacking techniques on her own and registered a dark web account with the codename 'Zilch.'
  • After fumbling around for a few days, she started taking on jobs to practice. But what Reilly didn't know was that she had a natural talent. Those so-called minor jobs were actually complex tasks that had been left unresolved for a few years. No one had dared to take them on.
  • She had successfully completed those strenuous tasks with a new account on level one and became famous overnight! However, she was only active for a year before she got bored. She wanted to return to her family, so she stopped logging into her account. But she didn't know that after five years, she was still ranked number one on the hacker leaderboard and idolized by everyone in the hacker community!
  • More people in the chat room called out her codename, and chats flooded Reilly's screen. This hadn't happened in years! Reilly was amused and tapped the keyboard, replying with '…'. As a result, the chat room was in a frenzy!
  • 'Ah! I can't believe it! It's really Zilch! The great expert is finally online! We missed you so much!'
  • 'My goodness, is this the legendary hacker ranked first on the hacker leaderboard that no one can beat? You're so cool. I really like you!'
  • However, Reilly only glanced at the messages. She casually checked her account and was surprised to find someone had helped to manage it for the past five years. A whole five years had passed. Who would have time to help me manage my account? Reilly's phone vibrated. Reilly looked at it and raised her brows. It was a message from Dimitri. 'You finally decided to come online?'
  • 'Did you do it?'
  • The hacker known as 'Dimitri' had once ranked first on the hacker leaderboard. He had also introduced Reilly to the dark web. No one imagined that Reilly possessed such extraordinary talent. She outdid him in just one month. This was a case of the student surpassing the master.
  • However, Reilly never considered Dimitri her mentor or acknowledged it. This angered Dimitri so much that he had broken several keyboards. Reilly had given her account password to Dimitri before she left, so it was clear he had been helping to manage her account.
  • 'Mm. Are you wondering how to thank me? You can call me master.'
  • Reilly initially felt moved, but she laughed when she saw his message. 'You haven't given up yet? It's not easy to be my mentor unless you can defeat me.' She had won seven out of ten times when she previously competed against Dimitri.
  • There was a pause before Dimitri replied. 'Alright! Let's compete and make a bet. Whoever breaks through this firewall first will be the winner, and the loser will call them master.' Then, he sent a link. Reilly raised her brows curiously and clicked on it. She couldn't help but freeze, and her gaze instantly turned cold. It was Bannister Group's official website!
  • On the website, Ford was dressed in a well-ironed suit, sitting on a luxurious chair. He had a gorgeous appearance, delicate and handsome features, and a red birthmark at the corner of his eye. He had an assertive yet indifferent demeanor, and he looked like royalty! Reilly's heart ached inexplicably. Hatred and pain intertwined and surged within her.
  • 'Alright, no problem. The time limit is ten minutes.'
  • 'Okay.'
  • Ten minutes later, Bannister Group's firewall, the strongest firewall in the country, was breached! Ford received the news immediately. His handsome face turned cold, and his sharp eyes stared at the computer screen. It was stifling.
  • The person in charge stood nearby and trembled, his face turning pale in fright. "M-Mr. Bannister..." Ford glared at him coldly and said in a low voice, "Inform the IT department that if this happens again, they can pack up and leave!"
  • "Alright..."
  • After the person in charge left, Ford looked up coldly at Max Shakhov, sitting opposite him, repairing the firewall on his computer. "Do you know who did it?" Max's forehead was covered in cold sweat. His keyboard was about to break as he tapped on it, and he could barely patch the firewall in time. He was only ranked third on the hacker leaderboard! "It seems to be Zilch. He's too powerful. We're not in the same league!"
  • Zilch? Ford narrowed his eyes slightly. He had heard of this person. Zilch was a top hacker on the leaderboard whose record from five years ago remained unbeaten to this day! He sneered, "Whoever it is, they're asking for trouble since they have the nerve to attack Bannister Group's firewall! Find their location. I want to meet them in person."
  • Max wiped the sweat off his forehead, feeling a faint anticipation. He also wanted to meet such a formidable character. Moreover, Zilch was someone he admired!
  • While chaos reigned in the Bannister Group, peace prevailed in the Schulze family. Reilly had undoubtedly emerged as the winner! But Dimitri was a sore loser and immediately logged out after losing. It infuriated her so much that she cursed him for not keeping his word while showering!
  • It was already evening when Reilly went downstairs to the dining room. Just as she was about to sit and eat, a plump housekeeper rushed over and stopped her. "You're Ms. Lundberg, right? This seat is reserved for the Schulzes. You can eat over there." The plump housekeeper had a cold expression as she pointed to a small table in the corner.
