Chapter 2 She's an Excellent Doctor
- Reilly glanced at Yael Booker and smiled in exasperation before asking, "How is everything going?" Yael nodded respectfully. "Everything has been arranged properly, boss. This way." Reilly entered Yael's Rolls-Royce before the car sped off to The First Murkoff Hospital. They took the elevator to the top floor and arrived at the VIP ward.
- Inside the intensive care unit, Reilly's eyes reddened at the sight of the frail figure lying on the hospital bed. "Ms. Gorin..."
- "Boss, we've invested the money in our account into this hospital to provide the best treatment for Ms. Gorin as per your instructions," Yael explained. He couldn't bear seeing Reilly sad. Reilly nodded slightly.
- She had been imprisoned three years ago and bullied relentlessly as a result of Elena's schemes. She had even been targeted multiple times and almost died. Ms. Gorin had medical expertise and became Reilly's mentor. Ms. Gorin had saved Reilly and passed down her medical knowledge so Reilly could survive.
- Ms. Gorin had also suffered greatly. She fell in love with a jerk who framed her. She took the blame for him and ended up in prison while she was poisoned. A healer could heal others, but they couldn't heal themselves. She was in a miserable situation.
- "Did Ms. Gorin take the Cardiacin pills I made in prison?" Reilly asked.
- "She did. There's still a lot of pills left." Yael quickly took it out of his pocket. "Boss, you don't know this, but your miraculous drug is in high demand in the black market. It's being sold for close to one hundred million per pill..." Before Yael could finish, a commotion was heard in the corridor outside the VIP ward.
- A group of people hurried towards the end of the corridor while pushing a hospital bed as they spoke urgently. "Ted Schulze, Schulze Group's president, got into a serious car accident. What should we do?"
- "What?! Schulze Group?! He's the wealthiest man in the country! If he's in trouble, won't his four children wreak havoc in our hospital?" The group of doctors in white coats were in a panic. "We can't afford to offend the Schulze family's children! We need to quickly find a solution!"
- "I briefly looked at the paramedic's records on the way here. Not only does he have severe bleeding, but he also suffered damage to his heart and brain." One of the female doctors rolled her eyes. "If we don't take extreme measures, I'm afraid we won't be able to save him..."
- The head looked at her. "What kind of extreme measures?"
- "Electric shock therapy," she said in a low voice.
- "H-How can we do such a thing to Mr. Schulze?" The head was immediately horrified. "Electric shock therapy will only save his life. However, it will leave him in a vegetative state."
- "At least we can prolong his life. We can ask his four children to come quickly. If we administer some cardiac stimulants, he can still speak to them..." Katrina Doval spread her hands. "There are always disputes in wealthy families. Perhaps his four children have long considered..."
- "This is a hospital. Instead of treating and saving the ill, these doctors are more concerned about these unorthodox methods?" Reilly had just walked out of the VIP ward. "The First Murkoff Hospital should have shut down two years ago!" Her gaze was cold and frosty as it swept across the group. They trembled slightly with fear.
- There had been a major medical accident at The First Murkoff Hospital two years ago. The lawsuit ended in a disastrous defeat, and they paid out significant damages. The hospital was on the verge of bankruptcy, but a mysterious investment saved The First Murkoff Hospital. It also brought a wealth of medical knowledge and secret medical techniques, which revived The First Murkoff Hospital's declining state.
- However, apart from a few high-level officials at The First Murkoff Hospital, no one knew the source of this mysterious investment. Still, The First Murkoff Hospital was going off the rails again since its reputation had been restored. They had started engaging in unethical activities again.
- The female doctor named Katrina seemed displeased upon hearing this and stepped forward. "Who are you? Do you have the right to interfere in our hospital's internal affairs?" Her voice was filled with disdain. Reilly snorted coldly and remained silent. Behind her, Yael said, "This is the miracle-working doctor I invited."
- Katrina still had a disdainful expression, "Miracle-working doctor? I've never heard of such a thing. Moreover, who are you? Who allowed you to invite a miracle-working doctor to our hospital?" Before she could finish, Katrina was pulled aside by the head behind her. "Shut up," the person said scornfully.
- "Dad! Why are you taking her side? She's an outsider!" Katrina was puzzled. Quentin Doval glared at his daughter. Although he didn't recognize the so-called miracle-working doctor, he had met Yael before. Yael had attended the previous shareholders' meeting and sat in the seat of honor. Quentin was guessing that he was the rumored mysterious shareholder.
- "Mr. Booker, may I be so bold to ask which hospital or research institute this miracle-working doctor is from?" It was evident that Quentin treated Yael more politely than his daughter. Yael didn't say anything. He took out a small porcelain bottle and handed it to Quentin. "This is the medicine developed by the miracle-working doctor."
- Quentin took it and was stunned after opening it. "This... this is the Cardiacin pill?!"
- "The Cardiacin pill? The mythical miraculous drug?"
- "You can't buy it on the black market even if you can afford to pay one hundred million!"
- "It's really the miracle-working doctor. Legend has it that the life span of those on the verge of death is extended just by taking one pill!"
- Everyone exclaimed in admiration, but Katrina was still angry. She said sarcastically, "We have a difficult surgery at the moment. Since the miracle-working doctor is here, why not let her enlighten us?"
- "But this is Ted Schulze, the richest man in the city. He was just in a major car accident, and we have no other way. We can only sustain his life with a ventilator."
- "If the miracle-working doctor is capable, she can save him. Otherwise... I don't think she deserves to be called a miracle-working doctor!" Katrina was trying to push the problem to Reilly, who naturally understood. The corners of her mouth curved, and she made no promises. Instead, she said, "If I can cure the patient, would that solve your problem?"
- Quentin hurriedly stepped forward. "Of course, it would. We would also be indebted to you, doctor." Reilly nodded and pointed at Katrina. "Alright. I want her to kneel and apologize to this patient while bowing."
- "What?!" Katrina raised her voice. "What's the matter? Are you afraid?" Reilly had a taunting expression. Katrina gritted her teeth and said, "No way! Go ahead and treat him. I'll kneel down if you can save him!" Reilly smiled faintly, then turned around and instructed someone to prepare an operating theater for her. She changed into surgical scrubs and got ready to treat the patient.
- Quentin watched as Ted was pushed into the operating theater and couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat. "Kat... you're too… too impulsive!" If anything happened to Ted, the entire hospital would be held responsible! "Dad, what are you afraid of? That woman wanted to treat Ted Schulze. If she succeeds, we'll take the credit. If she fails, it's her problem."
