Chapter 3 She's The Richest Man's Daughter

  • Katrina's words convinced her father.
  • While the surgery was still in progress, hurried footsteps could be heard from the end of the corridor. Everyone turned and saw an elegant woman in a silk suit walking towards them. She was sweating slightly and had a panicked expression.
  • "Mrs. Schulze..." Quentin hurriedly stepped forward to greet her. "How is my husband?" Although Mrs. Schulze was a distinguished lady that other women admired, anyone would feel alarmed upon hearing that their husband's life was in danger. Katrina interjected. "Oh, Mrs. Schulze, we initially wanted to do everything we could to save Mr. Schulze, but our shareholder found a renowned doctor, so we couldn't do anything..."
  • Yael was also waiting at the door. Upon hearing this, he looked up coldly at Katrina, and she trembled in fear. Mrs. Schulze never liked talkative people. She glanced at Katrina lightly without saying a word. Katrina felt flustered and had no choice but to keep quiet.
  • At this moment, the lights in the operating room went out. Reilly instructed the nurses to push the hospital bed out. At that moment, Ted was still unconscious, his face pale. "Doctor, didn't you say you could save him? Why does Mr. Schulze still look like this after the surgery?" Katrina questioned.
  • "Are you an idiot? I performed the surgery. I didn't cast a spell. Do you expect him to immediately come back to life?" Reilly rolled her eyes. "I advise you to go to the neurology department for a check-up. I wonder how someone with your cognitive abilities became a doctor in this hospital." Reilly waved her hand, instructing the nurse to take Ted to the ward. Katrina wanted to retort but couldn't find the words, so she could only stomp her feet in frustration.
  • "Doctor, how is my husband?" Mrs. Schulze hurriedly asked after entering the ward. As Reilly spoke, she took off her mask. "He's fine. He should wake up soon." When Reilly removed her mask, the butterfly birthmark behind her ear suddenly appeared, startling Mrs. Schulze. "It's... It's you..." Reilly was taken aback. She looked up to see Mrs. Schulze's tear-filled eyes. "What?"
  • "Darling, you're my daughter. You had this butterfly birthmark when I gave birth to you. When I was pregnant with you, your father and I went to the countryside for an investment and encountered a storm. Then, I gave birth to you prematurely... At that time, the conditions in the rural clinic were terrible. After you were born, I held you in my arms for a few seconds, so I remembered this birthmark."
  • "Then, the nurse took you away... That night, a sudden mudslide occurred. I risked my life to find you, but the clinic collapsed. Your father and I would have died if we weren't rescued by the police... They said... you were gone... I cried my eyes out... and almost went mad. It was only when your father adopted another girl that I slowly recovered..."
  • As Bianca Hunter spoke, she slowly approached and touched the back of Reilly's ear warmly and gently with the tenderness of a mother. "Sweetie, maybe it's a mother's intuition, but all these years, I've always felt that you didn't die. I found your whereabouts three years ago, but the trail suddenly ran cold."
  • Upon hearing this, Reilly's heart skipped a beat. Regardless if she had any doubts just now, this sentence struck a chord with her. She was put into jail three years ago. How could they have noticed I had disappeared if they hadn't been looking for me? Don't tell me... Am I really the Schulze family's daughter?
  • "Cough... cough..." A weak cough came from the hospital bed. Reilly and Bianca turned to see that Ted had awakened at some point. "Darling... Are you awake?" Bianca quickly approached and grasped her husband's hand. "Look, it's our daughter! We found her!" Bianca pulled Reilly over. Ted initially had a confused expression, but his eyes lit up when he saw Reilly. "Our… daughter... she really is... my daughter..."
  • "She's our daughter!" Bianca couldn't hold back her tears. "Our daughter performed the surgery on you just now. She's grown up into an exceptional doctor."
  • Reilly still felt uneasy and didn't dare to believe it. The Lundberg family's exploitation and mistreatment had made her fear being a part of a family. With two people claiming to be her parents, she suddenly felt a subconscious fear. "Mrs. Schulze, I think you need to confirm..."
  • "No need." Bianca was firm. She pulled Reilly over and rolled up Reilly's sleeve to check for needle marks from where Reilly had drawn blood from her arm. "Sweetheart, your father is in poor health, and his blood can't clot well. Whenever he undergoes surgery, he needs a blood transfusion regardless if it's for minor or major illnesses."
  • "But you didn't need extra blood during the surgery today. That's when I grew suspicious." Bianca said, unable to hold back her tears. "I suppose you discovered that you and your father have the same blood type during the surgery, so you gave him your blood, right?" Bianca hadn't interacted with her daughter for so many years. Little did she know that when they reunited, her daughter had saved both her and her husband and even gave her father blood.
  • Upon hearing this, Ted struggled to sit up. He quickly looked at his daughter. "Darling, are you feeling okay... How could you give blood to me... Look at how scrawny you are..." There was nothing but anguish in his eyes. "How are you feeling? Take the blood back from me. I'm fine..."
  • "What are you saying..." Reilly's eyes reddened. "I'm okay." She had never experienced her family caring for her before. Mrs. Schulze was exceptionally astute. She was right. Reilly had already noticed that Ted's blood couldn't clot well in the operating theater.
  • When she checked their blood types, she found out that he had Rh-negative blood. This blood type was considered a golden blood type because of how rare it was. Only one out of a billion would have such a blood type, and they shared the same blood type. Such a coincidence was near impossible. At that moment, Reilly had already grown suspicious. To her surprise, Mr. and Mrs. Schulze were her biological parents.
  • Bianca didn't know how to compensate for lost time, so she quickly took a bank card from her bag. "Darling, here's one billion. You should take care of yourself... It's all our fault as parents for not taking good care of you. That's why you became so skinny..."
  • Before she could finish, the hospital room door swung open. Mr. Schulze's condition was unknown, so no one except Reilly dared to enter the room. They were afraid of being held accountable. Everyone gathered at the door, constantly peeking through the window to see what was happening inside. When Ted woke up and Bianca took out a bank card, Katrina felt it was time to enter!
  • "Mrs. Schulze, no need to thank us. This is the hospital's duty. You can just thank the hospital staff." Katrina quickly stepped forward and pushed Reilly aside. "You're a great entrepreneur indeed. Our hospital doesn't need your reward, but we're naturally grateful if you're willing to donate!"
