Chapter 4 Making Her Bow

  • Katrina went from avoiding responsibility to snatching the bank card away in moments. Her actions were extremely shameless, and yet, she felt no shame at all. Instead, she wore a smug expression on her face.
  • Ted, the wealthiest man in town, was saved in their hospital, but this renowned doctor wasn't from their hospital. Katrina could tell her father to publicly announce that she had done the surgery. Then, she would be known as the miracle-working doctor. Katrina felt very pleased with herself as she thought about it, and her grip on the bank card tightened.
  • Little did Katrina know, the bank card was snatched away from her hand the next moment, leaving her stunned. "Where did this doctor come from? I didn't know you saved my husband just now." Bianca sneered. "Not only did you not save him, but you also made sarcastic remarks at the door. Are you trying to take credit now?" Although Bianca was a wealthy woman from a prominent family, she was direct, straightforward, and never minced her words.
  • Katrina's face flushed, and then it paled. "Mrs. Schulze, you don't know the whole story. I suggested this treatment plan to the miracle-working doctor. She was merely carrying it out on my behalf." Katrina quickly added. "My father and I treated Mr. Schulze's various illnesses in the past, right?" After hearing his daughter's words, Quentin promptly stepped forward. "That's right, Mrs. Schulze. My daughter came up with the treatment plan this time."
  • Reilly sneered. She finally understood why a mediocre doctor like Katrina could work in this hospital. As it turned out, she had an influential dad. "Your daughter's treatment plan was to subject the patient to electroconvulsive therapy and turn him into a vegetative state." Reilly's tone was as cold as ice. "Her other plan was to wait for his family to arrive and give him a shot. This would have effectively taken his life."
  • Katrina trembled in fright. "Doctor, please don't talk nonsense. When did I mention electroconvulsive therapy? You must have misheard." She tried to compose herself and denied it. "I know you want to take credit, so I allowed you to perform the surgery." Not only did Katrina deny what she had said, but she also attempted to take credit for Reilly's accomplishments. "I clearly came up with Mr. Schulze's treatment plan. I let you take the credit, but you want to frame me now?"
  • After all, the hospital staff were her father's subordinates. They had to comply with Katrina if they didn't want to be fired. Katrina's fearful expression had disappeared at that moment. It was replaced with a pleased smile. She thought she had manipulated Reilly, and Reilly couldn't do anything about it.
  • "Katrina Doval, do you have any regard for human life?" Reilly's gaze grew colder as she pulled out a vial of blood from her pocket. "Why does the patient's blood not clot well? It's because you and your father have been adding excessive tonics to his treatment plan. If you claim I have no evidence, just check the previous prescription records. Then, the truth will be revealed."
  • Katrina and Quentin trembled. How... How does this woman know? At the same time, they heard someone roar in a deep voice from the entrance. "Look at how the two of you have tarnished this hospital's reputation!" As the voice faded, they saw Yael supporting an elderly man with gray hair hobbling towards the ward.
  • They arrived at Ted's bedside. "Ted, I'm sorry. I couldn't save your daughter back then. And now, I've sent such an incompetent doctor to treat you. I don't deserve to be the hospital director!" The old man grabbed Ted's hand. "Cough... Quentin is my student. I thought he had exceptional medical skills, but I never expected him to do such a foolish thing!"
  • The person who just arrived was The First Murkoff Hospital's director. He was getting on in years, but he and Ted were close friends. Yael had realized something was amiss and invited him over, where they witnessed this scene.
  • At the end of the day, the director still cared for his student, so he was actually asking for mercy on Quentin's behalf, hoping the Schulze family would show compassion. Ted couldn't say anything, and Bianca just sneered.
  • "You... You're ganging up against me and my dad!" Katrina was indignant. "You only treat us nicely when it benefits you, but you're trying to eliminate us when it doesn't. You refuse to let us take credit for treating Mr. Schulze. Must you defame us as well?" After that, Katrina tried to pull her father away. "Dad, let's go!"
  • "You're leaving just like that?" Reilly spoke up. Katrina turned and looked at her fiercely. "What else do you want?" Reilly sneered. "You can only leave after fulfilling your promise. You promised to bow to the patient but haven't done it yet." Katrina pointed at Reilly. "You!" Katrina had never endured such humiliation. She refused to kneel, let alone bow. She grabbed her father and was about to leave.
  • At that moment, Reilly flicked her hand and swiftly hurled a silver needle that had long been concealed in her sleeve. It landed directly on Katrina's knee. 'Thud!' She instantly fell to her knees. Quentin tried to help his daughter up, but Reilly launched another needle, and the both of them were on their knees.
  • "Both of you should bow and apologize to the patient. One used tonics foolishly, while the other treated him recklessly." Reilly raised her head again. "If all doctors were like you, The First Murkoff Hospital would go bankrupt. What do you think, Yael?"
  • The hospital director and Quentin knew Yael was a crucial shareholder, and his words carried great weight in The First Murkoff Hospital. Yael bowed his head and said, "You're right. I'll withdraw my investment from The First Murkoff Hospital next quarter." After that, the hospital director, who had remained silent, quickly said, "Both of you are terminated from the hospital!"
  • "Katrina suggested electroshock therapy!" There was mounting public indignation among the other doctors. "Dr. Quentin recklessly prescribed tonics and accepted bribes from drug suppliers. This is common knowledge!"
  • "Make them bow and apologize!"
  • Quentin's face turned red with shame, and quickly lowered his head. After others criticized Katrina and pointed at her, her guilty conscience took over. "I... I'll bow and apologize. Please... please don't fire me and my dad..." Three thumps were heard as Katrina knelt before Ted and bowed thrice. "Mr. Schulze, please spare my dad and me, considering how he has cared for you for many years."
  • Bianca looked at them coldly from the side and said, "The police will decide whether you'll be spared." Sure enough, the police arrived shortly and took the father and daughter away. After all, Katrina and Quentin's reckless prescription could be considered attempted murder. An investigation would have to be conducted.
  • The hospital room fell silent once again. Bianca looked up at Yael, who was preparing to leave, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "Sweetie, is this your boyfriend?"
