Chapter 6 The Best Friends

  • CHAPTER 6
  • The best friends
  • Narrated by Amy
  • I have breakfast alone in the huge kitchen.
  • -Good morning, Miss Amy - greets Henriqueta the cook, as she enters the kitchen.
  • Amy: -Good morning Henriqueta - I say a little sadly, putting the rest of the toast in my mouth.
  • Henriqueta: - What's up, girl, did you sleep badly? - Asks stirring in a pan.
  • Amy: -I didn't sleep very well - I sigh - and my father? Have you come down? - I ask.
  • Henriqueta: - Your father has already left, he says he had to prepare an important meeting at the company.
  • Amy - Um, I know - I just say.
  • I say goodbye and leave too.
  • I get in my car and drive to the company.
  • I am the Marketing Director of a multinational life and financial insurance company.
  • I studied and struggled a lot to get where I am now and I always wanted to do it without my father's influence, and everyone knows how much I tried and continue to strive, so they never questioned my work, let alone mine. office.
  • My father owns the company and that's why he's the Managing Director, the President, as he likes to be called.
  • We always had a life of aristocrats, much to do with the inheritances that were passed from generation to generation, both on my father's side and on my mother's side.
  • My father is very proud of his roots, and the roots of my late and late mother.
  • Dukes, counts and viscounts are our ancestors and he insists on saying it over and over again with his chest swollen, looking like a peacock. Holy patience, I, on the other hand, don't give a damn about that.
  • I make a strange face.
  • I park my Roll Royce in the spot marked just for me, grab my bag, and head out. I call the elevator, and while I'm waiting I feel someone approaching me.
  • -Hello princess - says a voice I know right behind me.
  • Matthew Lewis is beauty personified, dark, brown hair and honey-colored eyes.
  • Amy: -Good morning Matt - I say indifferently.
  • Matt: -Are you still mad at me princess? - He asks pouting.
  • I try to control myself so I don't laugh at the face he's making, he looks like a child who hasn't been taken away from candy.
  • Amy: -I have no reason to be angry, I have nothing to do with what you do or don't do Matt. We've talked about this at least a thousand times - I say smiling.
  • Matt: -You're beautiful, you know! - he says changing the subject.
  • I look at him trying to frown, but what comes out is a laugh.
  • Amy: -You're impossible Matthew Lewis, I can't be serious with you.
  • We both laugh.
  • Me and Matt, we've been best friends since freshman year of college, everyone thinks we're secretly dating, but we've never had anything with each other, not even a kiss, nothing. There was never even any sexual attraction between us, we treat each other like brothers and that's it, and we are amused that others think of a possible relationship between us.
  • Matthew is the Director of Public Affairs and works directly with me.
  • Amy: - Check it out but if you have any sense - I scold as I enter the elevator - if you don't want anything serious with Lisa don't give her hope, now you're wrapped up with others while you're walking with her, frankly Matt.
  • Matt: - What do you want me to do if I'm crazy about women - he apologizes - it's your fault, you are wonderful beings.
  • He looks mischievous and I have to laugh.
  • We left on the 44th floor, where we work.
  • Matt: "You've seen the weather here," he says as we walk down the hall, straight to our offices.
  • Amy: - Everyone is very excited to know who will be the new CFO, they say he's a hottie - I wink at my friend - and very professional. We are in need of a good financial director, that sector is a mess, it needs firm hands to get back to normal.
  • Matt: - I hope it's better than Stuart, who was a first-rate pain in the ass - says Matt.
  • Amy: - Hurry up Matt, the meeting is in less than half an hour - I say as I enter my office.
  • Matt: -I'm hurrying up - he replies, already ahead.
  • The New CFO
  • Narrated by Mel
  • It's exactly 9:30 am when my dad walks into the huge meeting room on the 42nd floor.
  • The Directors of the various sectors of the company are already seated.
  • We are all waiting to find out who will fill the position of CFO, left by Stuart who had retired.
  • The financial sector is in chaos, because Stuart started getting sloppy with his work, and my dad suggested he retire early, I didn't want to fire him, Stuart had been working at the company forever and my dad is fair to his workers.
  • Therefore, the financial sector has to be managed again well and with a strong and firm pulse.
  • My dad sits at the head of the table and looks at all of his directors, he's proud, the company is well run, no doubt about it.
  • He clears his voice and speaks.
  • George: - Good morning everyone, as you know, today is a very important day for our company, the financial sector is going to have a new Director, who as we all know is a little off track, but… - he pauses, as he likes to be theatrical lol - with the new Director, everything will fall into place again. Matthew Lewis, Amy Thompson and Layla Jones will continue to work directly with the new director, as they did with Stuart.
  • The three of us nodded.
  • George: -Well, and without further ado, I finally introduce you to the new CFO - raises his hand to the door, and when he walks in, I feel like I've just been whipped.
  • -Alexander Harrison, our new CFO - my dad smiles very happily, everyone stood up and clapped and greeted him with nods.
  • I sit like a paralyzed statue.
  • Matt: -But what are you doing? - whispers Matt standing up - get up Amy!
  • And he discreetly pulls me by the arm.
  • I'm on autopilot, and to make it even better, he doesn't take his eyes off me, as usual an asshole afff.
  • The remaining meeting was to introduce some directors from the other floors and which sectors of each one, a dry one, of course, because that desert wolf smiled at everyone, he's a fake shit.
  • Finally, we were all dismissed, I'm finally getting out of this room, I'm about to throw up my guts with so much smile from the asshole directors.
