Chapter 12 Every Room I Choose
- I did not say yes right away, because I needed him to know I'd actually thought about it and wasn't just swept up in the romance of the gesture, but I want to be honest about how close it was how badly I wanted to say yes in the first three seconds, before my brain caught up with my heart and made me ask the practical questions first.
- "Your business degree," I said. "Your internship track. Your whole plan for senior year. You'd be putting all of that on pause for ten weeks, for me, and I need you to actually think about that before you—"
- "I have thought about it," he said. "For two weeks, alone, without telling you, specifically so you couldn't talk me out of it before I'd made up my own mind. This isn't me making a decision for you. This is me making a decision for myself that happens to also mean I get to watch you become exactly who you're supposed to become, up close, instead of through a phone screen at three in the morning."
