Chapter 1667

  • Liza could vaguely make out the conversation between the two men and let out a small breath of relief. If they didn’t come down to search, she could at least hide a little longer. However, the rain was getting heavier by the minute, and she was injured. She knew that if she didn’t move soon, even if she avoided drowning, the cold would eventually get the better of her.
  • The rainwater soaked through her clothes, clinging to her skin, making her feel as though the cold was seeping into her very bones. Despair started to creep in as she struggled to stand up, her body aching with every movement. She forced herself to keep going, stepping through the rushing water, trying to find a place where she could climb to safety. Every time she tried to lift her arm, a sharp pain from the wound on her back nearly made her collapse.
  • The current grew stronger, pushing against her. Her only option was to move uphill, to higher ground. With trembling hands, she reached into her bag and pulled out her phone. The screen was cracked, but it still worked. She wiped the rain from her face, trying to focus, and dialed Gavin’s number.
