Liza’s voice was calm and indifferent as she spoke. “So, what you’re saying is that as long as someone is my blood relative, I should forgive them no matter how badly they treat me? And if I seek revenge, that somehow makes me cruel and merciless? Well then, as Gavin’s shadow guard, does that mean I can treat you however I want without you being allowed to complain or even resist?”
She straightened up, her gaze cold as she looked down at Nate. With one swift motion, she pulled the dagger out of his hand, her eyes filled with disdain as she asked in a soft but deadly tone, “Are you looking to die?”
Nate felt his body tremble. Cold sweat soaked through his clothes as his eyes widened in shock. He couldn’t believe the strength of this woman’s presence. Hadn’t people said she was just a brainless, foolish woman? They had claimed she wasn’t worthy of the president, that their marriage had been a rash decision. Yet, the woman before him was nothing like those descriptions. How could that person have been so wrong about her?
