• The sky was dark, even though it was early morning. Thick clouds covered the tops of the mountains, hiding the sun. It looked like the sky was angry, but it said nothing. The cold wind moved through the tall trees outside, making the branches shake. The forest felt quiet…too quiet. It was the kind of silence that made people feel nervous.
• Inside the large hall of the Blackmist Pack, things were just as cold and quiet. The hall was big and wide, made of dark stone. Tall windows let in the little gray light from outside. The floor was hard and smooth. Every step echoed.
