Chapter 8 Alpha Xander's Human Mate 8

• Alissa POV
• I was so excited when I heard that my brother finally found his mate. Xander has always been close off and has just little interaction with females so I know he is going to have a problem approaching his mate. If she is also a werewolf like it won’t have been difficult because we will have known what mate means. But unfortunately for him, his mate it’s a human. And humans are complicated especially when it comes to relationships. But Xander being Xander will definitely not ask for help and not the type who just helps anyone just like that without being asked.
• All he did was stare at her although it was lunch. If he continues at this rate, she is going to get married soon enough right under his nose. Since I know his pride won’t allow him to accept my help if I offered it just like that, I decided to share my ideas with mom who promised to talk with me.
• After dinner that same day, he came into my room to ask for help. He looked as if he was about to sign a deal with the devil. I did agree to help not because anything but am tired of seeing him without a love life at all.
• The next day, when we came to school quite early, Allen and I decided to take a walk. And just my luck, I saw Xander’s mate heading to the library. I excused myself from Allen and decided to follow, determined to just get her name at least.
• As soon as I opened the door to the library, I collided with someone and the book in the person's hand fell off and I picked it up and handed it over to her. And lo and behold it is Xander’s mate. This definitely is not the way I imagine my first encounter with my future sister-in-law to be at all. But well being myself, I decided to take advantage of the situation.
• I looked at her dress from her uniform to her shoes. I must confess she has a good fashion sense, at least I don’t need to work on that angle. I complimented her shoes and we soon started talking about the book in her hand which is also one of my favorite novels. I think l like her already.
• Just then the bell for the first period rang and since we were in the same class, we went in together.
• When we entered the class, she went over to sit with her friends while I sat with Ivory and Joe, our pack members and my so-called cousins.
• “Wow! Seems like she has warmed up to you already. That’s great” Joe said as he gave me a fist.
• “So what’s her name?”. Ivory curiosity asked.
• “Claire!”. I replied and we turned our attention to the board.
• ****
• Soon it was lunch and I am so looking forward to it. I wanted to tease Xander.
• We the Avila’s made our way to the cafeteria and just before we could enter, Xander grabbed my hand and told the rest to go ahead. He then went on to drag me to an empty hallway.
• We both stood silently looking at each other without the other one talking. I am actually the reason why he dragged me here but if he isn’t going to talk first, then I won’t too. After all I am doing him a favor and not the other way round.
• “So..,” he started saying before taking a deep breath. I kept silent and looked at him with a silly smile on my face.
• “I saw you talking to her this morning, what info are you able to get?”. He finished up with a hard look on his face. Poor boy, I know this is different for him. And I, being a devil, will make life missable for him.
• “ You know, you easily refer to her as “my mate” instead of saying''her ``. I wasn’t able to get much because the bell rang but I was able to get her name. Her name is Claire. Plus she has an Australian accent so I guess that’s where she is from”. I explained. And I got a big smile from him. Which is a first because I can never remember Xander smiling at me. Never!”.
• “One more thing too, she is a book lover like me too. We even have the same book interest. Maybe we have the same character too!!”. I screamed the last part in order to provoke him.
• “God forbid!” He replied sharply and I laughed at his distress as we made our way to the cafeteria.

• Claire POV
• Up till lunch time, I was thinking of the incident that happened this morning. According to what Ashley told me, the Avila’s don’t interact with any one so it was surprising that one of them didn’t only talk to me, but also commented on my shoes to which I am grateful. I made a promise to myself that I will always dress fine from now on. Ashley and I made our way out of class towards the direction of the cafeteria before I heard someone calling my name.
• “Claire, wait up!”. I turn to see Becky jogging towards us. Ever since the incident that happened yesterday during lunch in the cafeteria, Becky and I have not spoken to each other at all. I am still a little angry about what she said yesterday.
• “Good morning Ashley, morning Claire”. She greeted us as she reached where we were.
• “Morning”. Ashley and I both responded at the same time.
• “Can I talk to you Claire? Just for a minute that is if you don’t mind”. Becky continued. Ashley looked at me to see if I am okay with her. I nodded my head at her and she left Becky and I standing in the hallway and headed towards the cafeteria. After she was gone, I turned my full attention to Becky waiting for her to talk.
• Becky cleared her throat and started talking; “Am honestly sorry for what I said yesterday. It was actually uncalled for. Am sorry.”
• Am actually surprised that she is apologizing because she didn’t strike me as the type that would apologize for stuff like but who am I to complain.
• “It’s fine, really I have already forgotten about it.” I replied to her with a small smile on my face.
• “Really? Thank you!”. She said as she hugged me. I hugged her back and we walked into the cafeteria together.
• “Wow I didn’t expect to see you together after yesterday's incident”. Aisha stated. Someone people just don’t know when not to talk at all. None of us gave her a reply and we started eating. Ashley has already collected our lunch for us.
• We were having pizza for lunch and honestly speaking, I wasn’t in the mood to eat that so I just took a slice and watched them eat.
• I turned my back to look at Avila's table and I noticed that my crush wasn’t present there. Alissa, the girl I spoke to this morning, wasn't at the table either. I wonder where they are. Just then both of them walked into the cafeteria together and made their way to their table. They look like a golden couple. Maybe they were dating, I thought to myself. I know in my heart that there is no way I could compete with her. She has the looks of a goddess while I am just a plain Jane. Wait, why am I thinking about competing with her or anyone? I must be going crazy because I know that there is no way a guy like him will ask me out.
• “Like brothers and sisters, they are so fine! I wonder what their parents look like”. Aisha said bring me out of my crazy thoughts.
• Wow! So they are siblings. I let out the breath that I didn’t know I was holding out for what reason.
• I turned again to look at their table and I met with his eyes staring deep at me as if he was trying to look into my soul. When he noticed me looking at him, he gave me a small smile and I quickly turned my head because my heart started beating very fast as if I was going to have a heart attack.
• “Talking about the siblings that remain me, Claire, I saw you enter the class together with Alissa this morning”. Ashley asked in curiosity and everyone at the table turned and looked at me waiting for me to share the full gist. All of you are a bunch of gossipers, I thought in my mind.
• “Well it’s nothing much for me to say, I came early today so I went to the library to borrow a novel so as I was coming out, I collided with her. And that’s how we met and it turns out that we have the same interest in the same novel and then the bell rang and since we are in the same class, we decided to go together that’s all.” I summarized what happened to them.
• “Wow, I am really jealous, we have been in this school together with her for two weeks and we have never talked but u have been here for two weeks only and you are in the process of becoming friends. Tell me what lucky charm you are using? Becky said.
• “Nothing at all. It just happened”. I said not knowing what else to say. I actually don’t know why they are making it a big deal. I get the fact that they are wealthy but she is just a teenager like us.
• “Looking at your confused face, I guess you don't know who she is right?”. Ashley asked me and I shook my head indicating no. Is she someone I am supposed to know?
• Ashley then passed me to her. And I looked at the screen she had browser about Alissa.
• I am very impressed and marveled at what I read. Turns out she is the famous teen super model Alissa Gray. She has graced the front cover of different fashion magazines. She is also among the richest and most beautiful teenagers in the world. I can’t believe I didn’t recognize her at all. As long as you are a girl and you are interested in fashion, you must have heard about her. Wow, I can't believe I had a ten minutes conversation with a celebrity. Now I understand why they are reacting this way. I am going to video call Elsa, Lily and Joyce as soon as I get home.
• Soon lunch time was over and we headed back to class.
• It was time for history. I put my head on the desk and plan to start sleeping.
