Chapter 5 Warm Hug

  • The sky is so cloudy. The sun's rays were covered by dark clouds. Even though it was going to rain soon, it didn't stop Audrey from standing in front of the restaurant. Yes, Audrey was waiting for Xander who had just run away leaving her just like that.
  • Audrey had been waiting for more than two hours for Xander to return, but the man had not returned. Thousands of messages and calls were also not answered by him. Audrey was really worried about Xander. Audrey was afraid something had happened to him.
  • “Xander, where are you? Why don't you come back?” murmured Audrey quietly and restlessly.
  • While Audrey was still waiting in front of the restaurant, suddenly a thunderous sound was heard. Audrey was surprised. Audrey was about to enter the restaurant, but it was too late because it was raining so hard that Audrey's body was soaking wet.
  • Audrey panicked. Plus she didn't even have a car. She came here with Xander. Audrey's body shivered. Her lips trembled against the cold from the rain.
  • “Achoo!”
  • Audrey sneezed. The coldness of the rain had seeped into her body. Audrey wanted to leave that place, but she was afraid that Xander might want to find her. However, Audrey realized there was no way she could stay here especially when her body was already soaking wet.
  • “Better I go home right now,” Audrey said holding back her annoyance. Seconds later, Audrey headed to the bus stop, and Audrey was forced to take a taxi. Audrey had no other choice. Audrey was forced to go home by taxi. Audrey could have called the driver to pick her up, but that would have been a long wait.

  • “Shit!” Xander cursed harshly as he threw himself onto the sofa in his apartment. He was in a mess. The man rubbed his face roughly. Anger is gathering inside him as if he wants to explode.
  • This afternoon Xander tried to chase after a woman who was very similar to the woman he had been looking for all this time. But unfortunately he had lost track of her and couldn't find her.
  • There was a knock on the door. Xander turned his gaze towards the door and immediately instructed the person who knocked on the door to enter immediately. Before returning to the apartment, Xander asked Chad—his assistant to come.
  • “Mr. Xander,” said Chad politely.
  • Xander opened his eyes, staring coldly at his assistant in front of him. “Have you found out where Serry is?”
  • Xander asks Chad to find the whereabouts of Serry—the woman who has always been in Xander's heart. However, it was also the woman who disappeared and avoided him. He has always been looking for Serry's whereabouts. But in reality he couldn't find that woman.
  • “Sorry, Mr Xander. I've seen the list of immigrant data in Rome, there is no one named Serry Ace. I'm sure you must have seen it wrong,” Chad replied telling Xander.
  • Xander let out a rough breath. It's been seven years since Xander has been looking for Serry's whereabouts. But there is not a single clue that shows the whereabouts of Serry. Every time he remembers the moment where he parted from Serry, it always makes Xander's heart constrict. His parting with Serry was because he was a coward, taking too long to fight for their relationship.
  • “You can go, Chad. Finish your other work,” Xander said coldly and firmly.
  • “Sorry, Mr Xander. I have something to tell you,” Chad said seriously.
  • “What is it?” Xander glared at Chad.
  • “When I’m on the way, I accidentally met Tina, Miss Audrey's assistant. Tina is on her way to the pharmacy to buy medicine. Tina said Miss Audrey was sick from the rain,” Chad replied which immediately made Xander frown.
  • “Audrey's sick?” Xander was silent for a while. He remembered that he had left her at the restaurant this afternoon. It was raining. Was Audrey waiting for him outside until it rained? Shit! Fool! Xander cursed Audrey's stupidity if it was true that she was willing to wait for him to the point she got rained on.
  • “Yes, sir. Miss Audrey was sick. But she didn't want to see a doctor. That's why Tina went to the pharmacy looking for medicine for Miss Audrey,” Chad replied, reporting.
  • “Where is Audrey now?” Xander asked coldly but there was a hint of concern in his tone.
  • “Miss Audrey is now in her private apartment, sir,” Chad replied again.
  • Without saying anything, Xander grabbed his leather jacket and car keys—then the man ran out of his apartment, towards the car park. With no other choice, Xander had to meet Audrey. Xander didn't want to be blamed if anything happened to that stupid woman.
  • ***
  • When he arrived in front of Audrey's apartment unit, Xander immediately pressed Audrey's apartment password and went inside.
  • “Mr. Xander,” said the maid who was slightly surprised to see Xander's presence.
  • “Where's Audrey?” Xander asked directly without further ado.
  • “Miss Audrey is in her room, sir,” replied the maid politely.
  • Xander nodded briefly in response to the maid's words. The next second, the man headed straight for Audrey's room. Xander's face looks cold but has a hint of concern.
  • In the room, Xander saw Audrey sleeping and wrapped in a thick blanket. The man approached, and sat on the edge of the bed, bringing his hand to Audrey's forehead. Instantly Xander clicked his tongue while Audrey's body was still warm. He was sure that Audrey must have been in the rain for quite a while.
  • Audrey's eyelids twitched when she felt someone touch her forehead. Slowly Audrey opened her eyes, a smile appeared on the woman's face—looking at Xander in front of her. The anxiety in Audrey's heart disappeared. She knew for sure that Xander cared about her.
  • “Xander? You here?” Audrey smiled warmly.
  • “Why did you wait for me in the rain, Audrey? You should just go home!” Xander exclaimed looking annoyed at Audrey who was stubborn.
  • “Lie down, Xander. I want to sleep in your arms,” asked Audrey who did not heed Xander's words.
  • “Audrey—”
  • “Please, I beg you to lie down. I want to sleep in your arms,” Audrey asked while looking at Xander pleadingly.
  • Xander finally complied. The man lay down beside Audrey. Audrey immediately leaned her head on Xander's chest, hugging the man tightly.
  • “I waited for you because I was worried that something might happen to you, Xander,” Audrey said softly in Xander's arms.
  • “Next time don't wait for me like before. Just go home,” Xander exclaimed firmly.
  • “How can I be like that, Xander? I'm worried about you.” Audrey lifted her head, looking at Xander gently. “You were in such a hurry, so I thought you had a problem. I can't leave you.”
  • “I had some important work that I couldn't procrastinate,” Xander replied flatly.
  • Audrey nodded her head. “Nevermind. The important thing is that you're here.”
  • “Go to sleep. You're still sick,” Xander replied coldly.
  • “Kiss me first, Xander.”
  • “Audrey, sleep!”
  • “I will sleep if you kiss me.”
  • Xander didn't say much. The man immediately kissed Audrey's forehead. “Now sleep!”
  • “Lips, Xander, not forehead,” Audrey whined spoiled.
  • Xander huffed in annoyance. In the next second, Xander grabbed Audrey's neck and kissed Audrey's lips. At first he wanted to end the kiss, but Audrey's lips were so sweet and supple. He deepened the kiss. Not only silent, she also returned Xander's kiss. Their lips touched each other. Their tongues intertwined with each other.
  • “Sleep.” Xander let go of his kiss, staring at Audrey commandingly.
  • Audrey nodded obediently. The woman buried her face back in Xander's chest, hugged her fiancé tightly while inhaling the scent of the man's masculine perfume.
  • Meanwhile Xander didn't flinch when Audrey hugged him tightly. The man did not reply, nor did he reject Audrey's embrace.
